hi, i need a review for a new webhosting company called colorteck.com, a friend of mine has bought a plan with them but he says nothing works even after complete propagation, he cannot upload a single file, they gave him broken links, and their servers are down today too, and just does not know what to do. Any help or background info on the company is greatly appreciated.

I've never heard of this company before. I checked the site myself and it appears to be down. This is not a good sign for a hosting company. If your friend can not get a hold of them, I would bail before it is too late.

His concern is that he has to ckeck the box saying "are you sure you want to delete this domain". He knows that he has a right not to provide any domain password, maybe were they just asking him to provide his account password. But he has to fill out the form to get that refund...

To me it sounds like they are just using the term domain incorrectly. Likely by domain they mean account. I would put the account password in their. Since they do not have access to the actual domain (just the account) they will not be able to delete the domain. Everything should be fine.

Yes he did that. Now he has just received notice from Colorteck.com accusing him of misusing their server and implying he (he is just a novice!!!) is doing hacking. They told him they were annoyed because he considers their service "poor" (he had to fill out that form, the choice was excellent / poor, what else could he say...).

Colorteck refuses to pay him back (there is an unconditional 30-day guarantee, though!) and promises an investigation about his alleged "hacking" activities against colorteck!!!

i read an article by a disgruntled company reporting abusive language against them as they had canceled their service too. Colorteck refused to refund them and fined them 250 dollars or so just for leaving!

i have the feeling they have eyes and ears everywhere, my friend received one e-mail after my posting. Who are these people???

I have advised my friend to report the abuse and ask consumer groups for advice, but he fears he will be overbilled before any remedies are taken.

I am not saying THEY ARE BAD PEOPLE, obviously. Not me. Who am i to say that.

But a friend of mine asked for a a legitimate refund (they have a no-hassle 30-day money back guarantee, you can read their pages).

THEY FLAMED HIM, just for leaving, he says.

A friend of mine has just received notice from Colorteck.com accusing him of misusing their server and implying he (he is just a novice, he does not even know HTML!!!) is doing illegal "hacking" against them when he filled out his 30-day money back guarantee hoping for a refund.

They told him they were ANNOYED because he rates their service "poor" (he had to fill out that form, and specify EXACTLY WHY HE WAS LEAVING, ticking excellent / poor (no middle choices!!!), so what else could he say poor devil).

Colorteck refuses to pay him back (but there is an UNCONDITIONAL 30-day guarantee, or is there) and promises an investigation about his alleged "hacking" activities against colorteck!!!

i read an article by a disgruntled company quoting very abusive and threatening language they received from colorteck, promising him to take him out on the road and beat him...**** as they had canceled their service too.

Wow how unprofessional. This company reminds of a simular company Tinyhosts who tried pulling this same stunt. Thanks for the information. I would advise on posting that on as many web hosting forums as you can including webhostingtalk.com.

colorteck.com assures his customers that migration takes anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. Migration can take up to 72 hours, maybe more.

My friend has received billing information from his former host, T. (he was already disgruntled when he bought that Colorteck plan) stating that he is currently subscribed to their account. But those 72 hours are more than past.

They had reassured him migration had taken place. Now they say it hasn't.

And they tell him he annoys them because he is ignorant, what ingratitute leaving us when we were smoothing things out for you, they told him.

they say they sent him the frontpage extensions too, all info to start off the site.

He was never given those frontpage extensions he asked for.

I do not know who your buddy is but we are not responsable for how long it takes the domain to hit our servers. It is all up to the client to change their name servers. Plus we have never called anyone an idiot so I do not know where you got this information at all. If you want to know the truth about us just take a look at some of our client web sites and contact them as most of our clients have been with us from the start.

Not all of clients have their web site listed. we are tryning to get them to list their websites this way there will be over 700 that people can contact.

Please do so if you want to find out for yourself about our company we encouage you to do so.

Plus you do not send frontpage the client can enable it on their own with their cpanel.

This so funny We have never refused to do a refund at all. If you are cought doing illegal activity on our servers you are terminated if found in violation of our terms. Just like any other web hosting company. It is funny that the people that always complain are the ones that are using their webspace for illegal activity.

yes all cancellations come from the cancellation form it is required when cancelling your account. If your freind was in violation of our terms for hacking or whatever then he would have not had to fill out the cancellation form at all as we would have terminated the account.

So to me your story does not jive at all. But anyways have a good day!
