I'm new at this, I currently have a site with godaddy.com and want to start a new one. Can I host 2 sites using my current server, or do I have to buy a seperate host to host my new site?

A server can handle many websites, but it depends on your requirements for the website hosting.

Usually, you set up a new addon domain in your Cpanel. Then, put the site files
in a new directory that is designated as the new domain's root.

Sure you can. Just check with GoDaddy; they usually have terms on the maximum number of domains they can handle. (You are hosting with them, correct?)

You would get personalized help if you go through their support channels. They have like 30 people working 24/7.

As said, there is an option of addon in cpanel.
There you have to add the new domain and it adds as a sub folder in the file manager.

Can you please explain what is the main reason that move you to have 1 sitehosted in different plasces. I believe that your issue might be resolved in other way also.

That question doesn't really make sense and if in fact is a question is missing a question mark. The OP never said he wanted to move one site, he said he wanted to start a new website so was enquiring about addon domains and I don't get where you got "different places" from.

gurpgurp the reason you have a banner at the top of your page is because that hosting is free and the ads pay for the server. If you attempt to remove them that will surely violate godaddy's TOS. Look in to buying some cheap shared hosting.

I think that it's rather the type of the site which matters more and not the number of domains on the server that you should talk about, though I'm sure there's a certain limit for the nmber of domains, but this could be just one gigantic site or 3 hundreds of small two-page html sites.

Some hosts limit the amount of domains you can run off your account. The only reason I see is that they'd much rather have you pay for another account than to just using the resources you paid for...

Most hosts though don't bother to care how many domains you use.

All web hosting restrictions are written in legal documents of the company and ou have to read them all before singing up.
I have seen nice offers from Ahosting.biz as they aloows to host as many web sites as you wish on their servers and their legal things are written perfectly well.

Well reading the TOS or AUP is pretty obvious. There are many clients however who refuse to do this and when they run resource intensive scripts and they get suspended, they get hissy.

You own a server or just a shared hosting account? I guess just a shared hosting account. Godaddy should be allowing add-on domains even for small shared hosting. Checkout your control panel or ask the support.

That site has been set up using the free hosting that Godaddy offers when you buy a domain from them.

The Economy plan at GD only allows one domain. The next level up allows unlomited domains but limits you to 25 databases.

For the OP, if you have the multi-domain plan you have not set this up correctly.

25 databases is plenty for a beginner webmaster. I think across my 30 or so domains, I have about ~20 databases.

I agree with you completely. I just wanted to point out the rules since GD is grossly over-selling like a lot of hosts are.

Before signing anything, read the fine prints with a magnifying glass. Otherwise, a lot of things might escape you. Better be sorry now than later. But if you're already committed, call the support. They should be able to help you.
