My question for all,

Which would be the only single web host that you recommend for buying a dedicated hosting package?
And reasons why?

Really hard to say.

But if I had to choose:
1. Rackspace because of the "fanatical support"
2. Superb Hosting because it's a bit cheaper and offers support packages as-needed.

If you could explain what is dedicated hosting package I would certainly give any answer after a good search..

So its basically hard to have single best web host selected?
As each have some issue in them..?

I don't think sizzler_chetan is asking for you to do a search for him. He could do the same thing if he wanted to. He's asking you to vouch for dedicated hosts from experience.

If you want to know what a dedicated host is, look it up. You can do a search for that first and then get a clue of what we're talking about here.

Probably. Rackspace is great with 24/7 phone support but super expensive. Superb is not as costly but just as good. I used their online support and it was 100% -- I've never worked with them on the phone though.

I think it depends on experience. You have to ask people about what they encountered with particular hosts. I've only had experience with Superb and Rackspace (at least for dedicated) and I'm happy with the choices. They're not cheap and you get what you pay for.

Yep i wanted to know from people who have already chosen this type of hosting and are using it.

My preference is Liquid Web. I haven't had a single problem with them.

Also try to include the pricing features in your mind while deciding the best!

I think we're missing a fundamental step before trying to suggest what "best" is here... let's put it like this: you wouldn't be able to say that any single car is "best" without first considering whether you're talking about the purchase price, fuel consumption, speed/performance, cost of parts/servicing, ease of parking, optional extras etc.

Sure, a server won't get you into work each day, but the issues involved in terms of selecting the "best" provider are equally as complex. We need to consider things like transit quality, location (of target audience), range of servers available plus upgrade options, do they offer discounted software licencing (and if so, of the products you want to use?), quality of the facility itself (internal network construction/redundancy, power grid redundancy, experience/competency of on-site staff), support channels availability (what's available, and what times), and don't forget that even more mundane issues like payment types and availability of billing/sales staff can be big factors affecting your choice.

So lets define some specifics about what we're looking for from our 'best' dedicated server provider, and then we can have a meaningful discussion about it

sizzler_chetan, I think that you also can check web hosting providers' forums and find their real customers, then check. Anyway the best experience for you - your own. And you are in luck if it is good one

Fair enough, but then on providers' forums you will find customers of that particular provider? So they obviously like what they find and consequently have a biased view about them (i.e. they will be positive about the provider, as if not they would be using another one!).

I still say that you need to define exactly what "best" really means in terms of meeting a specific need - otherwise all the replies here have absolutely no meaning of value.

Damien, I don't think that ALL hosts just delete unpleasant threads from the forums, and often the way a host reacts to the issue is very significant.

That absolutely 100% was not what I was getting at (although a point to consider when viewing forum posts on a forum operated by the hosting provider you're looking at). What I meant is that if people continue to use a provider it tends to imply that they are happy with the service received from them, and therefore the feedback received when creating a thread "are these guys any good" is highly likely to be positive in 99.9% of cases.

Probably if you browse around the forums you may establish a more accurate picture of what's on offer, but that's not to say that this is a reliable source of information...

I'm torn between 1and1 and dreamhost. I'm still exploring though. So many choices.

why.. because 1and1 has lots of optional cool stuff and dreamhost is the geeks wet dream with the goods that deliver.
