It is your requirements that will determine the hosting packages to be cheap or expensive.

Maybe you try to list up your basic requirements and try to search for web hosting packages that suite your needs. After that, you will no feel over expensive with the hosting web hosting packages that you paid for because you know the total value that you will receive upon your payment.

Please pay VERY close attention to the "cheap" monthly rates a lot of places advertise. MOST of them are ONLY if you lock into a very long pre-paid contract.

I looked at some this past week that were offering rates like $3.95/month for a decent looking package. Start your way through the checkout, and find out that is only on a TEN YEAR pre-paid contract. Actual montly was $10.95. BIG difference.

I finally settled on a package with a company I knew that gave me what I needed for $5.91/month after a 15% discount I got from a quick google for promo codes. It's even a Canadian host, so I don't have to worry about the US exchange rate changing month to month.

There are lots of "cheap" monthly rates out there being advertised, but many of them are NOT actual MONTHLY rates ... just the monthly average of a long-term pre-paid contract.
