Wel, seriously, getting a domain name from your hosting provider make sure your host says "100% Domain Ownership", that should be reassuring for clients. Guess this is what Lunarpages.com and Hostww.net do.

To be honest, when someone like Yahoo or Microsoft say "Unlimited Hosting" I believe them. They have the equipment needed to run constant upgrades, and budget shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's just a matter if they WANT to make it believable or not.

Unlimited is always bad in the Hosting industry, but as I said, when associated with someone like Yahoo, it's no more than finding a good computer on sale in Best Buy. It doesn't make it any less realistic.

Bear in mind that I've never read any reviews of Yahoo's. Actually, I've never even seen their package, I sort of just heard about it. Likewise I haven't ran through their ToS either. So correct me if I'm wrong guys.

i actually saw a hostgator package the other day 350GB diskspace for $5 i mean seriously come on

but of course it had no add on domains and things like that, it really annouys me when i see webhosts which offer huge amounts of space and bandwidth for nothing and give you know features so people think oooo thats alot... buy buy buy and when they get the site going and realise i need a database, i need to upgrade another £2 /mnth extra then itso i need to add my second doamin add £5 quid

I hate hosts which do that, because from a cost of hardware point of view diskspace and bandwidth have direct costs, databases, email accounts and domain names etc are basically a unlimited number, the only thing which stops em is the the diskspace and speed of server etc, meh stupid companies getting stupid customers.

I am glad my first "host" was a mate so i got it all free only had to start paying when he gave it up for a month and got a server without cpanel but im happy, i a am with a host whcih i think is reasonable and logical!

Use them as a media placeholder...
Run your site from a real hosting server, and redirect mp3, flash, download files and videos to that "media" hosting.
It's what I'm doing right now.

It allow me to keep my small dual xeon (!!!) pretty fast, occupied only with the request that really take time.

I like hostgator and bluehost.

I also like lunarpages! They were recommended to my by a web programmer I was working with and I have never had a problem with them.

Agree. Being a domain registrar is a plus for the hosting company, but it is hardly plus for their clients if they suppose to move someday. There is a lot of sence in buying the name from another company.

As for hosting provider I would suggest lookin up hqhost.net - I think there are plans for your requirements.

I personally use Dreamhost for my sites.

Yeah, and I can safely tell you, HostMonster ain't gonna fit the bill.

Don't take my word for it. Google "Hostmonster complaints" and see what comes up.
