Hello,

My freewebs site (www.coaster101.com) has alot of potential but due to Freewebs' lack of features, I'm finding it harder and harder to expand.

Here's what I'm looking to do:
- Move to new host
- Create a functional, interactive website based on php
- Have a photo gallery

I would like to find a template (use CSS if possible) that I could individually add pages (other than the forum and photo gallery). I don't want the forum to be the center of the site, though.

I do not have alot of knowledge of html or php, so any help would be great!

What host would you recommend?

Hello John,

I can recommend hostgator hosting. <self promo link removed>

After you'll have a normal (paid) hosting, it's quite easy to create a forum or web gallery. <self promo link removed>

If you need any assistance, send me a private message.

A forum in general does not need much space at all, a web gallery does, I offer solutions to your problem, don't hesitate to PM me.

I'm using Hostmonster and I think it's great. You could do it with Hostmonster but you may have to install additional software like Gallery.

Try MarbleHost.com. They have nice plans and options including website builder, that would be helpful if you do not know HTML. You also can choose one of two dc to host at!

Hostgator or hostmonster is a good choice.

Look into Webhostgiant.com or Bluehost.com deals, they offer multiple domain hosting and a variety of scripts, you'll find both photo galleries and cms.
It might be a good idea to look for their coupons as well.

you might be better served by a CMS (content management system) such as Joomla or Drupal (there are lots more, some simpler some more advanced: opensourcecms.com). As sites get bigger, managing them can become a real nuisance without the right tools in place.

Get a host that gives you one-click installation of Image Gallery...usually a part of Fantastico (a suite of 50+ one-click installable scripts).

^ Yes, hostmonster has something like that.

I don't know what's going on now. It seems to be switching back between my old homepage and my new one. The new one is /index.html and says that the new site is under construction.

I used the simiplescript to install the forum and it's working sometimes and then it will stop.

Any ideas? Should I delete everything from freewebs?

By the way, 99% of paid hosts have that (not just hostmonster).

I installed Joomla, but now I'm trying to install a template.

How do you make your frontpage your REAL homepage. Right now it is at coaster101.com/aero

I want it to be coaster101.com

Simply auto-redirect from coaster101.com/aero ==> coaster101.com.

^ Someone at another site said I would have to move the Joomla file to my public_html directory and modify the configure.php

Anybody know what they're talking about? It looks like there's already and aero file in the public_html directory.

Since siteground has Fantastico, i'm assuming that you installed it from there. Correct me if i'm wrong. This is what you could do: Create another wordpress into the root and do what you did. This is what it says in my Fantastico:

Leave empty to install in the root directory of the domain (access example: http://domain/).
Enter only the directory name to install in a directory (for http://domain/name/ enter name only). This directory SHOULD NOT exist, it will be automatically created!

So delete all files and don't enter anything in the field above it.

I'm using hostmonster, and I installed Joomla using the simplescript program, not fantastico.
