Im currently using wise-ftp only because my host offered it as a free download. Its fine except that it seems to disconnect/lose the connection very quickly from my server and when downloading with it i get some funky errors, something about not being able to download that size.

If anyone knows what setting i need to change to fix this issue or if they can suggest a better program im all ears.

I like LeapFTP the best It is faster then any other FTP client I have ever tried.

I would have to agree with previous posts and nominate filezilla as well.

ctbinccp, those errors may actually be from your host, not the FTP client. Maybe you've reached your quota limit, and it's not letting you upload certain file sizes.

Thanks guys, got Filezilla and everything worked fine, i like it much better then the crappy program my host has.

Filezilla is great but the support isn't the best, if you encounter a problem the developer seems to blame servers, hosts and everyone and everything apart from the program itself, for the most part he's right but it's the way he goes about it, the support is via a forum and he swears at people and threatens to ban them rather than explain it properly.

I guess in a way Filezilla is the same as most web hosts, they're the best you can get until you encounter a problem and need some help.

Been using Total Commander for years. I have the free version and it's super ok.

FileZilla (Totally Free) or SmartFTP (but it has only 30-day free trial)

From my opinions, FileZilla will be great.

Another very user friendly FTP client will be LeapFTP.

Definitely has to be Filezilla. Have always used it with no problems.

I have been using smartftp for years now and so far so good. But currently I alternately used Filezilla as well. But Filezilla seems good as there are updates to the software everytime.

There is an addon for Firefox - FireFTP - which is like built in FTP client for firefox. Easy to use and good performance.
You may download it from the site of mozilla.

There is no real competition, FileZilla is the clear winner.

I've used Filezilla on both Windows and Linux. It does the job just fine.

I love Filezilla. It even prompts you gently when there are new updates!

Hey there is nothing called as best. You have to see what your needs are. I suggest you go to downloads.com type in ftp client and free in the sunb categories.
By the way i use leech ftp its only 640 kb.
