I signed up with GoDaddy's virtual reseller hosting a year and a half ago. I had 52 hosting accounts. I now have 32, and 5 are mine. That should tell you something. Usually things seem ok. From time to time though, I will regularly have down time for no apparent reason, and tons of spam and email problems.

My most recent problem has been going on for a week. I am continuously getting 7,000 junk mail messages. As soon as I delete them 5,000 more come in. It never stops. It's continually receiving junk mail messages to my inbox. My actual junk mail folder has over 250,000 junk mail messages in it.

They have assured me that "spam assassin" is running. I have most of client's spam filter set very high.

There is no way possible that I can catch valid messages. I've already lost 2 clients this week for 'constant email and spam mail problems'. I've been successfully running my business for 10 years. GoDaddy's hosting is ruining my hosting, customer service and reputation in my area. If I don't find something else that I can afford SOON, I'm going to lose my entire business thanks to them.

Relying completely on the host for spam protection might be part of the problem. I'd recommend taking a look at your contact forms. Is there any sort of spam control on them? Is there a CAPTCHA? Do you use Akismet? There are a lot of different things you could do.

Very true. I do use CAPTCHAs on my forms, but I haven't heard of Akismet. Thanks, I will look into that.

Well, that is pro, the fact that they are best in domains, because I noticed this promotion for coupons at GoDaddy, they are having domain name discounts. You can find non-expiring coupon codes for GoDaddy.com, they work with renewals also. Just enter them at checkout.
CRAZY3 - .COM for $7.45 - Save $2

It's doesn't look much, but when you are registering a lot of domain names... it does help. Amply.

The problem with Godaddy hosting is that once you are placed on a server they will not be updating it. They will not update PHP or MySQL and will just tell you to move to a new server on their network. This can be a tedious task every other year.

I don't like godaddy for either registration or hosting, but the way I look at it is this.

It is very hard to be great at multiple businesses and although registration and hosting are related, they are not the same and require different skill-bases.

godaddy is primarily a domain registrar that also offers hosting. They may be a good registrar, but basically have added hosting as a value-added service and as it is not their primary business, I feel that it does not get their main attention.

godaddy is not the only registrar that offers hosting, but, in my humble opinion, it is best to get your hosting from a company that's truly a hosting company first.

I have hosted a single domain with godady for over 2 years and I have always had my server up and going. I cannot say that they have the industries fastest servers, but they are reliable.

My strong opinion when registering or hosting. It is best to host offshore. and use a hosting registrar offshore like joker.com /// And no I donot own that offshore registrar !!

GoDaddy is excellent for domains, but for web hosting they have got very bad reviews. My friend got charged $200 for excess bandwidth usage. No emails telling him he was being fined or anything.

I hate it. They should have stuck with the traditional cpanel. Everyone is comfortable with it and knows how to use it. They stuck a wrench in the thing when they came out with their own. I've got a friend who hosts with them. As far as speed and uptime, they seem fine. But I hate trying to help him change something, since I enjoy the File Manager/phpmyadmin and things that normal cpanel has.

you know it's the biggest and earliest company provide web hosting and domain in the world. But some new web hosting company also do well such as ixwebhosting business hosting plan. It support windows program and the php can be used at the same time. The add-on domain is unlimited. Lunarpages windows hosting 's add-on domain just one. You can compare them on our web.webhosting-view.

its true that my domains are bought from godaddy but i have had few problems with them in the past. I had registered .com,.net and .org version of a popular domain for 5 years in between 2 years the .com and .org version of the domain went missing. I had the the emails but none telling me why the domain was missing. was only left with .net version.

Also for the hosting, i used godaddy for hosting sometime back for few of my customers do have to admit that the control panel for most of godaddy services can be quite slow and it is lot less limited in control wise as you would get with even the basic hosting plan with cpanel access over some other site.

they are also quite limited, there prices are cheap but its not like nobody else can beat them elsewhere. Before signing up with them i would suggest looking elsewhere before you put that hard earned dollars down.

Just my 0.02$..

Cheers

I have relatively little experience with different hosts, but maybe that's because after I found GoDaddy I just stuck with it. For the price it's really hard to beat. If you want more from a service you are going to have to pay for it, and accordingly if you need more you should be willing to pay for it. But in its price point, it gives you plenty and also the customer service is very helpful and consistently available.
