A friend of mine signed up with them and within 20 days he moved to Hostgator. He kind of had some script installation (or pHp) problems with them along with some other problems. He only went to them because he was pretty much satisfied with their domain registration service. I have never tried their hosting nor their domain registration. When I searched for "Godaddy bad reviews" kind of keywords, I found this NoDaddy.com site, which posts about godaddy's bad business practice.

I using godaddy. I think it's great. I live in Russia and not so long time ago I removed my site to godaddy, because price in 4 times cheaper than in Russia plus polite tech support.

GD is pretty good. Their control panel is very easy to use, and their support is great. Speed it not that good though.

They've been having connection problems lately, like over the past week. I was thinking on moving some sites out of GD because of this, but couldn't find a good alternative yet...

I know they are a top choice, but I found it a little confusing. I had trouble getting my domains on the web through their hosting package. It just ended up sitting there unused for a year I have a short attention span... I moved on.

I have my site hosted there and love the customer service. However my site seems to be slow during random times during the day. Is there anything that I could be doing on my end to make it slow or does a slow website typically mean poor hosting?

Thanks in advance for your help-

Kuta

I have heard about godaddy as good domain name registrar.
You are talking about webhosting here. So that is new service for them and do not enough reviews to say something decent

We have used GoDaddy for over 10 years and also use them to host our main website Ad Peeps (www.adpeeps.com). We like the ease of the control panel. Only thing we don't like is their standard account only gives you 10 mb of email space and when you order they try to upsell the customers waaayyy to much.

Otherwise, we have rarely noticed any downtime. Maybe once or twice in 5 years.

Godaddy is known for domain registration and not web hosting. I have used their hosting services before and would not recommend it to anyone.

I agree with you highlayer, I only use them for domain registration on good specials they have going. LIke the .info for $.99 I wonder if they still have that. They have great domain registration prices.

Godaddy rocks the domain registrar part.
But when it comes to hosting they can't be trusted.
I would rather use a third party hoster if it were me.

There sure is alot of speculation in this thread. "GoDaddy can't be trusted"...give me a break. GoDaddy can be trusted and they certainly have the financial backing to add servers, drives, bandwidth, and staff. Now with that said...they are big on their windows servers and this tends to be an issue with alot of different common php scripts. We steer our clients away from Godaddy just because of that reason. We get tired on the ongoing issues with settings and modules not working correctly. If they used Linux servers regulary then I would not have a problem dealing with them. They are a legitimate company...at least you know you're not dealing with some $5 a month reseller that could be gone tomorrow because he just quit paying his hosting bill. With all the scams and unreliability found online I am still laughing at the statement "they can't be trusted".
Best of luck!

Their customer service is excellent. The website tonight sitebuilder is better than many others. Lacks a CPanel & I had to call them to fix things, on their end, a few times... I quickly went back to HostGator. It was worth a few dollars a month more for me. 9.95/m vs. 6.99/m

I think it would be a good choice for someone who only wanted one site & needed a sitebuilder... then i would go with them. I think that would only cost about $5/m.

My experience w godaddy is runnng a bespoke email app there. (Not my choice, they were specified.)

Shared hosting - ok for static, low traffic web site. PHP is cut down version and they are not willing to make changes. If you need a module that is not part of their cut down "default" install, well too bad - their solution is to sell you an upgrade to their VPS. Well, you get what you pay for with shared hosting, i.e. not much.

Upgraded to their version of a VPS server. This was sufficient to get things working but, not my idea of what a VPS is either, somewhere in between a shared hosting solution and a VPS imo.

There are better VPS solutions out there at a cheaper price. I guess that they get enough passing trade from their domain business to allow them to get away with this.

Bottom line is that things worked ok, especially if you don't know better. Self help support was a bit opaque. Support staff were not the speediest, but they usually got there in the end, which is more than can be said for some...

GoDaddy is crap.... at least that's what I heard from a lot of people. Negative feedbacks everywhere. I did not even bother to try it. Maybe that's also because I'm too loyal to hostsmonkey. Never let me down ever plus it's cheap!

What type of website do you have? GoDaddy is ok for domain names but not for web hosting. They are especially crap for drupal/ubercart setups.
