hello,
i bought only a domain name from GoDaddy today(not webhosting), but i have no idea how to configure it. I just know how to forward it to an url. I forwarded it to a page on my site.
I host my site on a hosting other than GoDaddy. What should i do in order to connect my new domain name with my hosting?

Any help will be appreciated,
Thanks

When you signed up for your hosting, you were given two domain-looking "subdomains" on most occasions they'll be ns1.yourhost.com and ns2.yourhost.com. These re called nameservers, and they forward to an IP Address.

Simply take the nameservers and pluck them into your domain. The Godaddy control panel allows you to do so.

One note to add... GoDaddy's panel allows for something like 6 nameservers. You do NOT need to enter that many; if your host only gives 2 nameservers, that's all you need to enter.

One more from my side, If you want your name servers look like ns1.your domainname.com and ns2.yourdomainname.com, you have one option. That is a private name servers. You have to register those through a registrar.

On the domain name registrar side you need to point to the name servers of the web hosting.
On the web hosting provider side add the domain name to the web hosting account

First you need some hosting.. if you have hosting then go to cpanel and see your name server and loging in godaddy and put your name server in it and after some time your site will redirect on your server....

Add your domain in your webhosting account after setting the nameservers and then wait for 24 hours for them to propagate. Then your domain will be configured from your host cpanel if there is one.

Get hosting. Ask your host what nameservers you should use, they will giv eyou at least two, go into your registry account, remove the default nameservers they put in there and insert the nameservers the host gave you.

Wait 3-12 hours (usually), spin two times, and poof your domain is setup to work with your host, assuming your host set things up right on their end.
