That number sounds a lot bigger than it is. I'm a vps provider, and each vps I sell starts with a base inode limit of 500,000. On average, a user with 7 - 8 medium size sites can fill that easily.
A standard install of VB uses roughly 25,000 inodes, Joomla almost 15,000. A standard install of WHMcs could come close to filling that 50,000 inode limit (because of the html editor they include). You should run an inode count on the sites your hosting, or even on this forum -- I think you'll be suprised .
50,000 inodes is a very small number. Especially since a dedicated server running centos, and using a 200GB HDD and no more than 128mb of ram to operate the file system will be able to hold over 200,000,000 inodes.
