Some friend needs to host simple site with static content.
It navigates through pages using a simple links menu.
No database, no sophisticated scripts, etc. Only simple HTML. He will also need email hosting. He already have the domain name he wants.

Do you have any advice about the best hosting for this kind of site?

Any basic shared hosting plan will do the trick. Do some research and go through some reviews in forums. Short list some hosts and ask fo r comments here. that will help you to take your final decision.

It seems its a good option for the basic search. But you have to do a really good research on the host before sign up. For that hosting forums will be really helpful.

lot of good hosts out there offer packages within 4-6 $ range per month. when i started years back, i was using godaddy but these days i use bluehost

If your friend need static hosting plan, I have seen one from hqhost.net. They are not expensive and don't need to pay for extra features that you don't need.

I think that you need first do google search for that + visit some review web sites like whrevews.com etc.

I would recommend WebHostingPad, BlueHost, or HostGator for that.

Do a few research before you sign up. Try visiting web hosting directory site, www.hostpulse.com and search for pricing below US$5 per month.

Well for simple HTML stuff you could get free hosting. But if you want room for advancement and quality hosting I'd use HostGator. If you want room for advancement but want to pay the smallest amount possible you should go for 1and1. Just be ready for 1and1's unpowerful cpanel. It's impossible to go back after you've used the real cPanel.

For paid hosting I don't think you can go past dreamhost, but if all your hosting is static pages then free hosting is probably all you need. It's not going to cost you anything and if you don't like it you can always move to paid hosting later.

As I understand you do not need much resources for your site, so I can recommend ayksolutions.com for hosting - they have really cheap plans for hosting static sites, with low space and bandwidth. The individual customization is also possible. Have a look I think you'd be interested.

I think that you can find a lot with budget of $1-3. I would not recommend go with free solutions, because one day you can lose all what you have.
Do search in google and you will find a lot of them.

Get a decent host @ around $5-$8. Dont fall for the cheap, free solutions. True, you may not have any processing to be done, but if you are on an overloaded server that goes down often, the rest doesn't matter!
