hi

i purchased a dedicated server from fasthosts yesterday. having set up my nameserver info i went into my 123-reg.co.uk account and tried to switch the nameservers for my domain to my new dedicated server's ns1 and ns2.

On doing this i kept receiving auth errors so i sent 123-reg a support ticket asking why this was happening. when 123-reg replied, they said that the domain was no longer in their control and i would have to contact enom to administer it. I have never heard of enom, and my domain name has now disappeared from my 123-reg.co.uk control panel.

Anyone know why or how this has happened? attempting to change name servers surely should not have moved the domain name away from 123-reg.co.uk - should it?

forgive me, ive had my head up my arse for a long time now and their rise to enormity went unnoticed. now i know who they are, id like to know how theyve hijacked my domain name. further contact with 123-reg tells me that it was moved to enom in april but not deleted from my 123 control panel.

They probably haven't actually hijacked them, 123-reg were enom resellers as so many registrars are, but earlier in the year 123-reg (who are part of Pipex or GXNetworks as they are now called) had some DNS disasters, (fortunately our servers were out of the Pipex datacentre by then ) and it may have been the case that enom stepped in and took over the name servers.

123-reg have always suffered from the Pipex "we're too big to care" attitude so it wouldn't have crossed their corporate mind to actually inform anyone.

Enom are not scammers or hijackers. Are you still listed as the domain's owner? Contact Enom and ask them for assistance.

Your domain might have expired, then only they can take it. If this is not the case, contact enom, they will give your domain back.

That was moved without your permission????

thanks for the replies, i sent enom an email on friday but havnt heard back from them yet. i will chase them up again. the domain has never expired, i can only assume that chris hirst's suggestion was right as it usually is

Anyway you can do nothing with that untill you contact them and specify everuthing around.

If there is no post from him I'm sure that he is fine. Lots od people have such kind troubles on the start.
