I am looking for a cheap reliable ecommerce hosting solution - I only have a few products I want to sell - literally about 10 different products in 3 catorgories.

Can anyone recommend a ecommerce hosting solution that will integrate payment processing etc?

Is it difficult to add online ecommerce software to your own website?

Is there any free software I could use to do this? How difficult would it be to add payment processing to it?

You can integrate a shopping cart system with virtually any hosting.

take piece of paper and write down:
- what you need to have done.
- which ecomerce solution can serve that (just do short research)
- do short research keeping in mind chosen ecommerce solution

All three are free and very powerful that allow the integration of billing (PayPal for example) and shipping (USPS/FedEx/UPS) service modules so that you can automate a good portion of your eCommerce business.
