You see all these other sites providing hosting. I was just wondering how people provide hosting. What do you have to do to provide it? As well as costly wise?

You dont. Not just yet anyway.

Here's how i think you should go about it.

Rent a reseller account from another company, spend as much time as possible getting to know the ins and outs of the entire system, spend hours reading manuals and tutorials on the system and monitor web hosting forums, see how other people are operating.

Then, you apply for a job at another company, get used to answering sales/support tickets. do this for a few months until you have had just about every question you can.

Use the reseller you rented to start hosting some of your own clients, build a name for your company. Then rent a VPS. So the same as you did with the reseller, learn the ins and outs of the system.

Break your VPS, destroy it as much as you can, then practice fixing it. Repeat several times.

Once you know what you are doing with the VPS, move your clients over to the VPS.

From there, you can do pretty much whatever you want. you have the skills and the experience required, you should have a fair few clients and a bit of a reputation.

Just keep building your company

Hope this helps

Get a website, domain and a reseller account and you can start offering it to your customers.
Or if you dont want to pay for reseller hosting accounts then there are sites that offer free acocunts

The best way to provide hosting is by getting a reseller account. Some of the top reseller hosting providers give you all the tools necessary to run your web hosting business.

Here are the things to look for, if going for a reseller hosting
  • Reliable Web Host
  • Easy to manage control panel
  • Complete control over prices and packages
  • Domain reseller account to register domain names
  • Billing software like WHMCS

That is not a picnic actually. But. You can do some tries with reseller accounts or even affiliate program if you have own related sites

Firts time better to have that as secondary service to your core one. Then you will get if you be able to provide that and if you want and need to do that at all.

Hello,

These people you are referring to most likely have a reseller or a virtual private server (VPS) that they sell hosting space off of. All they have to do to provide this feature is purchase a reseller or vps. They will vary in price and quality. At first I would suggest starting small like 10 GB of diskspace and then upgrade accordingly. You will spend more on a vps then you would a reseller account. Best of luck to you.

GamingFreak, if you are interested to provide hosting you have to do the follwoing:
1) Buy a reseller account first. A reseller account consists of WHM (Web Host Manager) using which you can create share hosting account.
2) You will need a web host billing system. (WHMCS or iPanel)
3) Web Site Template (Make your own or Edit an old one)
4) Live support system

I hope these steps will help you to start your hosting business.

That is very competitive. You need to be as good as admin as good as advertising manager if you are going to start that alone
Hope that helps

I completely agree with this, maybe not on the customer support section, but otherwise this is a very thoughtful post.

I assume all that is included in the typical reseller account. So that is enough to have #1 done

That is not a picnic to be even reseller. Just not forrget about it. You will need to try hard to get first customers with reseller account.
