I went with these guys back in July after haveing three bad experiences in a row with some of the providers many of you promote around here.

The first couple of months they were terrific and did not miss a beat. I even bragged them up here.

Well, in October they got slammed by a DOS attack so they implemented a new Firewall. From that point on I have had days where I can't retrieve my own mail, can't access my control panels and can't access my reseller control panel. Also, my sites seemed to be down more than up.

At first their excuse was they were still fine tuning the firewall. Then when it happen again a month or so later, they claimed that they had a spammer on their system and that their NOC pulled the plug on the whole server instead of just that one user.

Then when it happened again in Late Novemember they told me they had the settings on the firewall to the most strict and if I didn't like it, they'd move me to another server and I could take my chances. I told them that if they didn't fix the issue with the firewall, I would sue. For almost the entire month of December I had no issues.

Now in January I have been watching stats because I am doing fresh marketing and also new ads.

Three out of four of my domains have maintained or increased in traffic.
The forth has dropped to 1/4 of it's normal activity. So I questioned them about the firewall issue or anything else they may show in THEIR Logs.

Now they are handing me a bunch of crap that they never installed the firewall and that there's nothing wrong with my hits. They proclaimed today's numbers as proving things are back to normal. Well today, that site got blasted by this domain. 110.229.88.202.asianet.co.in

I tried in November to speak to ownership and I set up a time to call and they refused to put the call through.

I am getting close to joining anyone who wants to put regulation on web hosting on the internet. No more unknown resellers, no more trash companies working out of basements. No more overselling, no more lies and deception.

Are you still hosted with them?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad hosts out there - just as there may be some good ones. Overselling is just a marketing gimmick, used to attract and lure unsuspecting customers, thinking they're getting the best for their money!

I don't see how you're going to be able to cut out all of these bad hosts. Best of luck to you (or anyone who attempts).

You can't expect regulation to solve anything. Overselling is a facto life in this industry. It starts from the top and ends at the bottom. Going against it is like trying to have a different set of roads for each car out there.

You just need a better host. Try an older one, with more experience under its belt. $20 per month should be able to get you very good hosting, assuming you're only using say 50Gb of data transfer.

$19 a month is what I have been paying and it has been a drag. I need reseller ability with FAR less hassles than I have had in the last two years. I have three new customer sites to put on the air this month and I have no time for inane hosts. The guys at SH set their firewall so high I had trouble FTP'ing into my accounts.

One regulation I would like to see is a requirement of who a company is reselling for and how many levels deep they are. Same goes for registration companies.

You get what you pay for and if you pay a lot that doesn't mean you get best service. And vice versa.

To my mind, every hosting company like big hostgator for instance, has downtime from time to time and simplehelix.com is not an exception. (every person can write something like this even not pointing his/her web site which is being hosted with this or that company). I have found out that this company has been providing web masters with hosting since 2005 and I think that if every client, like you, had so bad service, no doubt, this company would go to pieces.

In this case it seems the domains in his signature are hosted with simplehelix.com.

For those of you following this thread here is the leatest......

SimpleHeleix is now under new ownership. Shortly after posting my last message here I had a day of no mail servers and lousy loads. So I blew my cork.

That's when i found out that they had been bought out. The new support people assured me that if I allowed them to move my sites to a "new" server
all would be fixed and my problems would dissolve overnight.

It took a few days to coordinate schedules to complete the move, which went relatively smooth with a couple of small issues.

Since the move my site load has been more than reasonable and I have not had a mail issue with any of my domains. I have however had to deal with a super sluggish ADMIN panel. Last night, I tried to FTP 1 file to one of my domains and it took three minutes. So, I emailed support and let them know about this and the Admin Panel issue. I got a cursory response last night and expected a followup this morning.

What I got this morning was a MORON who either never read the ticket or
was trying every way possible to lose his job. I finally got fed up and called them. I got a response finally from a technician who seemed to be far better at his job than the first fool.

While I was on the phone, I asked to speak to management and I was assured I would receive a call back. Late today, I received an email telling me that no one had time this week to call me.

So after a brief pause in my quest I am after yet another company to host my domains and those of my customers.

I don't want to hear any suggestions, as most of you resell for those top ten bloated server companies. I will find my own place to land, even if I have to do my own server from here.

It's time for some regulation in THIS industry too.

I must say, SimpleHelix sure looks like they can handle themselves pretty nicely. It's disappointing to see such problems. Unfortunately, it'll take you a lot of trial and error, before you find a host that is just right.

Also, "What may be good for you, may not be right for some". You can't depend on the experiences of others - just as others can't depend on your experiences.

Andrei155,

Your site is the poster child for what I am speaking of. All veiled baloney and no viable information. Who are you reselling for? Stratch one off my list.

What you need now is find another host. Do not pay lots of attention to the design of the web sites. That is not a prove how professional web hoster is.
Good luck with solving your troubles

No, some of us run reasonably successful hosting operations without a website selling hosting to all and sundry at all.

I'm not referring to the quality of Andrei155's page. In fact it's a nice design.
What I am referring to is that it is the same "canned" garbage that all the hosting services perpetuate.

99% uptime guarantee....
No Overselling......
Et, et, et.......

I'd almost swear in court that I have seen their site content word for word dozens of other places.

Maybe I should have asked....who is reselling for you?

Not a word about the actual ownership of the company. In fact his site doesn't even have an About Page.

For years I was one of the champions of deregulation on the internet.
But now having had to switch providers 5 times in two years for various reasons,
I am now changing my position.

"Bad" or "Good" is based on personal experience. There is no such thing as a "good" or "bad" host, just if your particular experience was good or bad.

I tried saying that, and then he ripped me apart .
