How can I set up a mail server on my home server that Gmail and other wont reject becaus eof my ip? I would like to host some of my customers website on my home server but have ran into this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to provide a Reverse DNS (rDNS) PTR record at your name server and possibly SPF records as well.

You sure that you can host at home? That might be the first thing to verify before you waste too much time.

Definitely check with your isp if that was the original purpose.

What is your home server configuration? I believe that you need to make sure that your server will be able to handle that before any installations

I'm trying do understand your question.... Have you used Gmail for webmail only? Maybe you need look through webmail solutions only?

I think he's saying that his emails either don't reach gmail, or are filtered by gmail as spam.

spf may be a solution. Another cause may be that your IP is already blacklisted for some reason.

If your emails are rejected by a particular provider, you can contact their respective departments to whitelist your IP address (range) by giving valid justifications.

If so I believe that he needs to make some changes into the antispam system.

It seams like hosting has gone down hill. Some resellers are just that resellers. Is any one iterested in going in on a server? I would like to get about 7 people together to rent a server.

My Ip is not black listed. There has to be a way to register your IP in some way as a mail server. I have no problem in setting of an SMTP server and all its functions. Bigger companies just don’t recognize my Ip as a known server. I have dealt with AOl in the past and they had to manually add the Ip of the server. I just thought that some one might have dealt with this in the past and there is a bulk way of doing this. Or if your server name has to be registered in some way. For instance my server name is TSH but I am sending mail from different domains digitalextrememediagroup.com pagerankgrowth.com for example even though my SMTP is named for each individual account.
