Most "unlimited"/"unmetered" plans aren't really concerned for the bandwidth usage, but more rather your CPU usage. If you start hogging the CPU away from the other sites on the said server, you will find your site being taken offline.

There is no such things as "unlimited", it's just company overselling. If you ever were to get anywhere near "unlimited" your account may be suspended for making so many resources.

That's not the case for large hosts though, as they don't get their bandwidth in that fashion.

There's unlimited as infinite, and unlimited as no set restriction. A good bunch of the hosts posting right here in this thread advertise unlimited something (be it emails/domains/ subdomains), yet they see no issue with it, business and customers do just fine. It's all a matter of perception.

You may have dedicated with more bandwidth included if you need it. That increases the price in any case so you should understand that operating with the such servers
