Hi all:

Has anyone registered a domain or used web hosting services with this company?

I dont need much space for now and the pricing seems to good to be true. I do need to install PHPBB on whichever host I go with.

Thanks,

It's a fairly new company. Their whois info says they started up on June 12th of this year.

Try doing a search at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ for reviews.

kalypsoweb.com is new, but vmc-hosting.com is a year old.

I've never heard of them and a quick search on Google and Webhosting Talk didn't yield any results.

They don't offer a money back guarantee, there's not much info about them and they are a fairly new company. I'd be cautious.

Just make sure the plan you choose supports PHP programming and includes at least one MySQL database.

LiveHost seems to be about 2 years old, I found a couple good reviews on them, nothing bad.

What makes me nervous is no money back guarantee, and they only accept paypal. They also have no way for you to contact them except for a web form.

Ugh.........this gets tougher. Im like everyone else..........no budget but have concerns about reliability. The PHPBB will be the cornerstone of the site.

Finding a good host is tough, I know. There are so many bad ones out there it's hard to pick out the good ones sometimes. The companies you posted may very well be good, I just wanted to point out some things you should watch out for so you won't get burned.

There are many hosting companies that post here in the forums that will be more then willing to help you out, I'm sure.

We are one of those companies. If you'd like, PM me your requirements and budget and I'll help you out. We're currently running a special on our hosting plans, see sig.

Anacrusis mentioned one important thing: searching for customer reviews at www.webhostingtalk.com

Always look for feedback from real customers.

Also, by going with a host with fantastico or installatron you'll be able to install phpbb in a few clicks. That is if you don't want to install it manually, of course.

Good luck!

Hello,
I am the owner of Kalypsoweb and just to set the record straight; we have been around to include the time we were called VMC-Hosting since November 2003, we do and have always offered since we opened the doors a 30 day money back guarantee, and we also offer fantastico, along with many other features.

The reason for the name change is because with the hyphon in the name it made it difficult to search for feedback on our site on the forums...one would have to search by typing just vmc in order to see anything, thus the name change , plus I like the new name

I hope that clears things up and if there are any questions feel free to let me know.

Vince

Update.....

I did the research, talked to a live customer and took the plunge. The site is always up and when the santy worm and all that fun hit, Vince was very good at making sure my PHP version got updated. So far I have been very satisfied. Thanks to all.
