Hi all,
one day i went to my website and i got :

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request

I contacted them and they said: "We turned off the htaccess ReWrite engine. Deal with it. It is not our problem".

Is there anybody who can tell me what to do about this (not about my rude host, but about the htaccess problem)?

Many thanks in advance.

What are you using the .htaccess file for?

Btw, if your host said those exact words I'd seriously consider finding a new host. That's no way to be treated as a customer!

It's probably only used to display search engine friendly URLs. I'm pretty sure there's an option to disable them in the admin area. If you do that you won't need the .htaccess file.

Ask them why they disabled that feature.
And also whether they will enable it or not.
If you continue to get this kind of rude replies, better find a new host.

SE friendly urls are good to use if .htaccess is available.
