Is it just me or does anyone else find it impossible to to a manual install of wordpress using the web hosting provided by yahoo?

I do not find any. However, can you tell me what kind of issue are you facing when trying to install wordpress manually? Any specific error message?

Also you can check with the provider itself regarding this problem. As thewebhostingdi said normally there won't be any problem with wordpress installation. If you can come with the specific error you are getting while installing, you may be able to get more helpful replies.

I see that they offer it as a quick install, so I would imagine that the system has what it takes to run Wordpress. What is the exact issue you're facing when trying a manual install?

why are you using yahoo for web hosting. there are tons of better web hosting provider that will work well with wordpress and offer better pricing.

When you upload the files and go through the normal application installation process (as detailed on the developer's site), it's colloquially called a "manual install".

So Dan have described the process of the installing. @OP have you tried to do that? I assume that is correct way to get everything installed and working

If you want to devote more energy to your website,i think professional hosting is better,afterall,the reliability and stability is better,you needn't to worry your blog everyday,save lots of time to do it well .
i didn't use yahoo host before,so no experience,can't help you ....

I have read many reviews regarding Yahoo hosting and they were not good. If Yahoo hosting offers one click installation of Wordpress then manually installation must work.

You are absolutely right, but at the same time I assume you understand that in the case with manual installation (initial poster is talking about) that would be absolutely impossible

That is what a lot of web hosting companies offers. They just make the life easier for the customers they have

Yes that seems they had some nagative reviews in the past. Now I haven't herd any bad review from them
