hey, i got one question with lycos(tripod), what directory (if i m going to use it)would it be on the htaccess(the directory of password protect)? I dont see the guide..

im going to probably try to set up my own host with .htaccess

does anyone know where cna i get teh software so i can support htaccess?

its actually the best possible option, set it up and work on it offline.

.htaccess is supported by default by Apache (I think). If not, there is an option in HTTP Conf to turn it on/off.
