Hello,

I have recently signed up for a hosting account (9 days ago).
But I can only login to my account using my IP address, not my domain name.

-availble: (cpanel) http://username:password@xx.xx.xx.x:2082/ (x is number).
-not available: (cpanel) http://mydomain.com:2082 (and then enter username/password to login to cpanel)


-availble: ftp://username:password@xx.xx.xx.x/
-not available: ftp://username:password@mydomain.com/


(after uploading, I can see my index.htm page from IE by using:
ftp://username:password@xx.xx.xx.x/_...html/index.htm
but not: http://67.15.18.5/index.htm


or http://mydomain/index.htm








(mydomain.com has been registered at enom 2 weeks ago, and I pretty sure I have supplied the right name for nameservers (ns1.myhostingnameservers.com and ns2.myhostingnameservers.com)).


Could somebody please tell me what is wrong with my hosting account?

Are you using WHM/Cpanel to setup this hosting account

Can you provide the your domain name? I can run some tests to see if it's pointing where it should be. PM me if you don't want to post it here.

My hosting company set up this account for me (not me). And then, gave me url, username and password to login to cpanel. After login to cpanel (by using IP address), I see it shows 'General server information: cPanel Build 9.9.8-RELEASE 89'... And that is all I know, I don't know if it is WHM/Cpanel as you said...

Well for domains using cpanel and enom I normally set in enom to use enoms name servers and then the configuration for them is A|address set to your IP address

Is that the case of hosting account is registered with enom- but not with another hosting company?

Thanks, got it... It looks like your domain is setup properly. But your host has not configured the nameservers properly.

I'm sorry, but there's not much I can do for you here. You need to contact your host and have them look into the problem. I really wish I could help you more, but your host is the only ones who can fix this for you.

While we are on this topic, any idea why my domain name which I have setup only works with http://alloytemplates.com and now http://www.alloytemplates.com or does it take ages to propogate with my nameservers or enoms system?

webmassive, both those addresses work fine for me. Being able to use the 'www' on your domain is usually just a matter of adding a CNAME record in your zone file, double check that that's setup correctly.

Thats setup correctly, Must be MY ISP in the uk a bit slow updating etc...
