hi,

We have been providing high quality hosting for nearly eight years, i am sure you know that one can't survive in this industry for that long without providing quality services , we can confidently say that you will have a great experience with us.

ery recently we have revised our plans and have started to offer people more for the same price (you can check a few older threads if you wish to confirm that )

we can offer you our MICRO-KIT:
500 MB Diskspace
20 Gb Bandwidth

Unlimited Access, FoxPro, ODBC, Excel databases

all this for the amazing low price of $4.00 per month

if you still want the 2 Gb space, then we can offer you a reseller kit, which gives you the option of conducting some business on the side as well....
Under our refurbished plan we can offer you our SME-KIT which includes:
2 GB Diskspace
40 Gb Bandwidth
5 IIS Web sites
unlimited mailserver - Mailservers POP3/IMAP/SMTP/Webmail. Includes anti-spam and anti virus scans.

SilatPupil,

I see you were with 1 & 1. I am looking at them myself for a dedicated server deal. Are you not happy?

No, they were fine until I needed to get help......no answer to phone calls, email responses were slow if non existant......not helpful at all......but good enough when nothing wrong......downtime was minimal. just last contact was quiet rude... and someone spamming me via pm here! dont do it again!

Thanks Mate,

I've heard similar stories - all good until you need to talk to customer support.

Will look hard before making a decision I think.

What's with the PM spam? Someone from 1 and 1?

Aaryn,

I've had a dedicated server with 1&1 for over a year now. I just cancelled the contact last month. No particular problems apart from the support and the price. I also hate the fact that on the UK site everything is much more expensive or has less features than the US site.

For example :
UK Root Server 1 50GB Bandwidth : £49
US Root Server 1 500GB Bandwidth : $49 (the extra 0 is not a mistake)

They have specifically set up their US site you can;t buy from them without a US / Canada address. If your in the US that's fine but this just makes me angry. I'll bet there probably hosted in the same data centre.

Have a look around at some of the US companies. I've had good experiences with serverbeach.com and am looking to get a server from ev1servers.com.

Ewan

I use 1&1 for all my domain registrations, simply because I love their interface and cheap domain registration prices. I've never had a problem with them; in fact, they were quite helpful when I needed custom CNAME modifications done for one of my websites.

Stupid Question alert!

Whats the difference in a reseller plan, and a normal hosting plan?

A shared account offers you to host only your domain, or domains with no whm.
A reseller account offers you to host your domain and other domains, and make money with it. You also get whm and your own dns.

WHM = Web Hosting Manager
DNS = Domain Name Servers

Reseller plans allow you to host multiple domains and to sell the hosting accounts for each domain to others. Normal hosting plans are generally deigned for a single domain (although some hosts do allow multiple domains for whatever reasons).
