I currently lease a Linux dedicated server. I host many of my own domains (small sites) and a few small companies. I am definitely not a server geek and use the services of a server management company as needed for upgrades and installations.

I am thinking about changing to a managed dedicated server. I realize that it will be more expensive, but I think the piece of mind will be worth it.

Now I am wondering which platform I should choose. I have a client that is a web designer and prefers to use ASP. Because of that I couldn't offer him hosting for several of his clients. This is the only problem that I have run into by using a Linux server.

I would like to invite comments on this topic so that I can make an informed choice. I would be also open to reviews on companies that offer managed dedicated hosting.

Windows is more expensive, but you if you get a server with ASP/MSSQL and PHP/MySQL installed then you get the benefits of all the free software from the Linux side with the bonus of being able to host ASP sites aswell.

I would say you need to look at how much more your likely to make by being able to offer ASP hosting.

Yes many management companies due to charge a lot for their services. What you might want to do is ask a server admin that works by him self or find a hosting company that is willing to help you. There are many hosting companies that will help you out.
