I am to become a client of hostv.com and need some help with my accoun type choise.

The site to be hosted requires several gigs of webspace and stable-wide traffic channel, as it includes various stuff from text to video information. First I thought of getting a VPS, but after reading of the hybrid servers I though it could also be chosen...

I need to know which would be the best for my needs, as I hope to get a stable performance.

Help me please to get into.

Thank you.

Hybrid is not really a standard description, but usually it is used to set apart the super-powered, expensive VPS packages, from the regular ones. I guess they could stand for hybrid between VPS and dedicated, but they really are just bigger VPSes. Just like semi-dedicated is usually just marketing speak word for "high-powered" shared hosting.

semi-dedicated as a euphimism for shared hosting is a little off mark.

semi-dedicated is where the hardware is partitioned into "virtual machines" and (in theory) what is running on one "VM" should not adversely affect other VMs, unlike shared hosting where one site could hog the resources and slow down other sites on the same server.

While there are or were hosts that market their VPS services as "semi-dedicated", the vast majority of "semi-dedicated" offers I've seen, were shared hosting with a maximum guaranteed number of accounts per server, no virtualization involved.

There certainly is lots of unscrupulous hosting companies about who blatantly lie and call it "marketing speak".

And even more numpties who re(over)sell virtual machines and pretend they are "hosting companies"

I suppose big part of the existing web hosting companies are resellers. And in 80% cases people (which are end users) have no idea if they are dealing with the end web hosting company or reseller and some even never thought of this (of course if everything running good)

Hybrid servers have more dedicated resources and are hosted on more powerful nodes than normal VPS servers. Hybrids are most powerful packages and its also an alternative to a Dedicated Server at an affordable price. The Hybrid Server plan comes with Dual-Core CPU.

Even more some people prefer resellers. They are better for the end users.
I believe if you have reseller label that doesn't mean your services are poor or something like that

Dedicated hosting is costly. However, this doesn't make shared hosting a better option because its cheapness entails a list of undesirable characteristics. Hence, VPS is the best option.

Well you are right but there are dedicated servers like shared web hosting accounts and vice versa. So that really doesn't matter how that will be called. That should feet

Here you are referring about several gigs would be required by your website,in that case I would suggest a dedicated server for you.Later you can ask for more diskspace if your website requirements increase. But,it would be easy for us (forum mates) to suggest you a suitable package if you can specify the requirements of your website/s.
