xxxfast.net is a free phpbb forum host anybody know why they have been down for about 16hrs what is up I need to access my forum I have hosted with them

obviously not that much faster then!


When it's been 2 or 3 days assume they have gone bust and/or not paid their upstream provider bills.

Try to call them. It seems the only way to get in touch. Their web site still not working....

Deleted And Available Again.

This is the main problem of a free host. You can never demand service or support from them. Any way sorry to hear your troubles.

at the first day you choose a free host,you should think of this phenomenon,best wishes to you

@OP: this time do not forget about backup. That is really important

Be carefull when choosing a hosting, unless you do not lay much importance to your website.

That sucks. It's one of the reasons why I don't use free hosting provider. I don't have any control when it's down.

If the end user getting web hosting for free I think he or she should understand that one day this web hosting service can close without any notice

Absolutely ANY hosting company (paid or free) could close without notice.

Just it is more likely with "free" providers for them to fail.

Yes ANY paid but not EACH. But each free provider can close without any notice

Not really, there are some free hosting providers that are unlikely to close suddenly.

Wordpress for example, Google with Blogger/Blogspot

I believe for the paid web hosting that should be written in their TOS for what they can suspend account without any notice

have to be careful when choosing hosting for an important website. Look at the history of the host and check out what other big sites use them. If you are just interested in free hosting...well then there is no reason to complain when the go under. What did you expect.

All too true. However you pick a host that also hosts some pretty important clients...you'll be much better off. But it's never good to put all your eggs in one basket.

That assumes that the important clients do their choosing job better than others. If you're worried about hosts going bust, you probably need to find an old, experienced company of a decent size. One of the worst things that can really happen is for it to be bought.
