If I host my main domain in a cPanel somewhere else, does it affect my hosting account and addon domains?

I have few addon domains in a cPanel account in which the main domain is main1.com. Now I want to sell main1.com, then the DNS will be changed. Thus, main1.com is just a name on my account. Does it make any problem to my running addon domains?

Nope. You can contact your host and have your "main" domain changed.

I think that is not a problem to have addon domain names in your situation with such core domain name. As that was said you need to ask your web host to change main domain name for you.

What company are you using, the OP?

Imagine that I do not change my main domain, just change its DNS to point to somewhere else. Then my other domains are hosted at folder directory of /home/main1/public_html .

I'll use the host IP for ftp connection. Any other issue to be considered ?

You can use your addon domains, rather than the servers IP.

That is few minute job for your web hosting company. Contact them and ask to change the domain name

Yeah, you don't have to keep the expired domain name as your accounts default domain. It seriously takes under 30 seconds to make the appropriate changes. Just give your web host a call and they should be able to do it, no problem.
