Overall I like cPanel but it seems very attracting for me when a company offers some other customized control panels.
Say dayana host company offers Say5 and cPanel as their clients are able to choose between them.

Cpanel/WHM - An amazing control panel so far, easy and user friendly!

I've mainly used cPanel and know the ins and outs of it pretty well. It is my favorite but it also may be because I am the most used to it.

If you run a web host like I do, there are great free and low cost scripts out there that work with cPanel/WHM to make your life very easy. All I have to do for my free web host is moderate sites for illegal content. Everything else is automated.

We used Plesk with dedicated servers in the past, and the majority of our clients hated it. We still offer it upon request, but it seems to be losing much business due to Cpanel.

So I would say that Cpanel is the favorite among the Webmaster Talk Community. What about on a windows server?

I would always recommend cPanel. After that, I quite like a few of the open source control panels, VHCS used to be good, but no development in a while probably makes that not safe to use anymore, so for free ones look to Virtualmin, or if you want a challenge and to learn a few things, ISPConfig.

I would also highly recommend cPanel / WHM. It has great extensibility, clear control over functions (either it is via web interface or ssh) without confusing babble and unnecessary menus.

To add, cPanel support is one of the best that you can get, - professional and quick to reply.

CPanel by far. There is a reason so many hosts including the one I use have it. If a host doesn't have CPanel, they are ALWAYS overlooked. CPanel is the industry standard I think and basically because it is so freaking easy to use. There are so many options and then there is the amazing Fantastico...

So many scripts come with Fantastico and the scripts are EASY to install with Fantastico. No doubt on what my favorite Control Panel is.

Linux is by far the more popular operating system for most hosts and that is what most clients choose. My host offers Windows but I haven't given it a try yet. I am sure Windows is good and all but it just seems the ease of use with Linux in conjunction with CPanel is so good to resist.
