I'm currently using Host Gator for my site hosting and site builder. I have built my own site using Plesk Site Builder (it was provided with host gator). My services end with host gator later this year. I would like to find a better place to host my site. I'm looking for a hosting company that has templates that are related to my site (motocross) http://www.dirthammers.com and offer web design and allow me to edit the site as needed. I will be needing help with coding. I have product catalogs for an online store front but don't know anything about how to implement them into a site. What do ya'll recommend? Thanks.
What about web site editing software? Who has used these listed below.
Expression Web 1/2/3
Sharepoint Designer 2007
Dreamweaver CS3/CS4

I personally love Dreamweaver. As far as a Web Hosting Company that fits your needs, you are going to have to find one that suits you. HostGator has great support, however, they lack the personal touch that other hosts give you. So, the choice is up to you. Does this help you any?

Looking for hosting company that has support. If I can't figure it then I would like to be able to turn it over to someone from the hosting company that can. First problem I have now is the site builder I'm using. The templates don't offer anything related to my site content. In most cases if I can't just add codes like emded,HTML,RSS, etc then it's over my head.

I like this template here http://www.i3dthemes.com/demos/aurora_red_motocross/
They want 79.00 for the template and I think I saw dreamweaver software for around 200.00. So I'm thinking I could be in buisness with a whole new look and feel for 300.00 bucks then keep my hosting company or find another.

folofun- Watch it because you can't openly advertise in the Public Forum, this belongs in the Marketplace.
Dirt Hammer- There is a learning Curve with Dreamweaver, your best bet would be to find a company that would supply the design for you as well. I will PM you with a full list.

I agree with SpecHosting, rather than learning to use Dreamweaver, I think you could more easily install a content management system like Wordpress (easier) or Joomla (harder) (they're free and you can install them via Fantastico in your hosting control panel), read the documentation, and add a motocross template (there should be plenty out there).
As for a shopping cart, oscommerce and zencart are free and I think they come with Fantastico as well. I'm not so sure that there are all that many templates to fit your requirement for those, but I'm sure that with a couple hundred dollars you could have one made for you.
Google is your friend. I found these in a couple of minutes: http://dalefranks.com/cycles/index.p...dpress-themes/

Thanks. I found Fantastico and here's what it said about wordpress
Short description: WordPress is a blogging software with a focus on ease of use, elegance, performance, and standards with a huge selection of themes and plugins.
Homepage: http://wordpress.org/
You can edit web site templates with word press?

you might want to try going with a Wordpress blog (most shared hosting providers with Cpanel offer Wordpress). There's lots of free plug-ins available for it, including ones for ecommerce.

Hire a designer and host on a Cpanel shared account, that will give you the chance to edit it for yourself.

I believe that will not take so much time to learn that. I use Dreamviewer and I have to say that is very easy to use.

I have tried Movable Type, Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal. Of all these, Wordpress and Joomla are the best to me.
Movable Type is a nightmare. Drupal is good, but just lack of great plugins.
Joomla is great, full of amazing extensions (paid or free) which you can use. But for its CMS, it will be better if it could be something like Wordpress. Lots of beautiful templates too. Very professional and good looking.
I love Wordpress, very user friendly. I love the interface, fast, simple CMS yet powerful. Yes, it can be a CMS if you know how to play around with it. Some templates for Wordpress also don't look like a blog template, but like a full featured CMS.
My suggestion to you: check your site's requirement, what features you need. Then check Wordpress and Joomla extension. If Wordpress can do the job, go with it.
I had two websites, like the one in my signature, that is built with Joomla and a powerful paid rating plugin. Can't go with Wordpress for such site because the rating plugin is so far the most powerful one online. Still, I miss the interface and simplicity of Wordpress.

Speaking of this, I am in process of starting up a web-hosting business from home, and am thinking of expanding the idea to web design. Just me and a few friends, with a budget of around 5k (which could go up 11k if a particular lawsuit would ever go through). Considering this budget, what would be a good plan for this.
Note: Bit of a newb in this area, but learning really fast.

Is it true that this is a futile effort, as GoDaddy has the market cornered?

In times they have been known to have unhappy customers as you may be aware. Not everyone has a happy experience with GoDaddy and from what I read a large majority are unhappy.
