Lets talk about hosting.

Hey everyone, I'm doing some research and would like to ask some questions regarding your current hosting situation and how its going for you.
Who are your currently hosted with, and what made you choose that host?
Word of mouth, you saw an ad, you chose the cheapest host, you had a specific need that particular host catered to that another didn't?
What is good, and what is bad about your current host?
Are you happy with your current host? How is their customer service? Do your sites ever experience downtime? Customers or visitors ever say your site is too slow?
What do you seek in a webhost?
Scripting support, speed, lots of space and lots of bandwidth, green hosting?
What is the most important factor to you when choosing a webhost?
Cost, friendly/helpful service, webmaster tools like Fantastico for script installation, reliability, uptime?
Do you have any specific needs, that your current host doesn't support?
Like FFmpeg support, specific scripting support, SSL, multiple domain hosting on a single account, etc?
What type of website(s) do you have?
Small/personal sites or blogs. Large community sites with many users, commercial/business websites? Resource hungry media websites?
Any other information would be great. I want to hear from real people what they need and what they like, and what they don't like.
Lets get talking.
To the mods: Just doing some research. "For general web hosting questions and comments.", which is what I am seeking.

It looks like you are going to collect information about everyone... Why do you need this information?

Market research, I have been looking into offering hosting for some time. Instead of just jumping into it, buying some $10 a month unlimited hosting plan like so many others, I wanted to learn what people do and don't like in a host, and what makes someone decide to choose a host.
Feel free to participate, I'm not "collecting information on everyone", just trying to get some real user input from a wide selection of hosts and trying to understand the mindset on the client's side of things when choosing a host or staying with one. Fair enough?

I don't think there are many people that browse the web hosting forum whom aren't affiliated with a web host.

If you are looking for market research why don't you visit various review sites. I suppose there you will be able to find plenty of related information

No, I may soon be offering hosting which is why I started this thread. To find out (generally) what people like and don't like about common hosts.
Even though no one really answered my questions, the same thread at WebhostingTalk took off, which provided me with some knowledge.

It seems very strange that you are recommending a host that is in your signature without an affiliate link.

Things you should look for when starting to be a web hosting reseller:
Surely, there are numerous aspects which you will need to watch out for whenever you plan to become web hosting reseller. You’ll want to find a hosting reseller which you can have confidence in, especially the one which offers efficient customer help. you could find a good list of reliable web hosting resellers at Yahoo answers, but better have a look at reviews too.
While it is a reliable Internet home based idea, you should learn how to deal with the web host reseller company you chose. It’s best to make sure the provider knows how to counter downtime issues, or else both of you lose not just prospective clients, but also not be able to send important emails to people considering the hosting services.
While you make money online by staying a web hosting reseller, you then play an integral role in the web hosting service sector. according to Yahoo answers, you’ll be able to give hosting services to customers and be able to foretell whatever they need in building the website. Which is actually what you will need to look for in your web host company, since a lot of prospective clients are newbie online entrepreneurs who wish to take charge of their business; hence they need a web host with a user-friendly website builder.

Who are your currently hosted with, and what made you choose that host?
Being that my company is a hosting provider, I'm going to review our datacenters, I hope that this is useful to someone
We're using 3 locations, BlueSquare Data in the UK, Colostore and SingleHop in the US. We're using BlueSquare for all our UK services, mainly because they are very near our office, and because they have great uptime and reviews. Colostore provide our main US dedicated server location, they will build a server for you and you pay on a rent to own basis, which is great as we can pass the saving on to our customers, rather than having a set up fee. SingleHop houses a few dedicated clients, and mostly our US VPS infrastructure, chosen due to their great reputation and many good offers.
What is good, and what is bad about your current host?
BlueSquare: Good: Virtually everything. Bad: I'd like it if all their data floor access was escorted for security reasons.
Colostore: Good: Prices, ping, hardware, customer service Bad: Support can be slow sometimes.
SingleHop: We've not been with them that long, but everything seems perfect so far.
What do you seek in a webhost?
Value for money, perfect uptime, good reputation - personal recommendations from people I trust go a long way with me.
What is the most important factor to you when choosing a webhost?
Service Quality - uptime over time, speed and quality of support responses.
