Hi, I am looking for some free hosting so I can upload a directory script to it. It would be awesome if it allowed my own advertising too. But not a must. Anyone know of any?

There are plenty of free services around, I have also come across a few without advertising but not sure how reliable they will be for your script.
Have you considered, http://freewebhostingtalk.com/ - Good place to start.

As far as I know most free web hosts do not support PHP and MySQL. So that is impossible to fins such web hosting

Free hosting is used only by testing when you don't know how tou set your own server on your PC, for free.

Hello,
You can check velnet.com, they offer free web hosting with 20 Pounds of setup fee and it is one time fee, and you have cPanel with full access.

In this world nothing is free. Either they display ads on free site or do brand building by giving you few mb space. Instead you can try some budget hosting on internet...

Don't use free web hosting. They are unreliable and have limited script support. Low price you will pay for good service won't affect you much.

I think that you will have ads from your free web hosting service provider on your web site + your own ads. Your web site will look as ad farm.

I use sitefrost.com. I think it's professional hosting for free. You just have to post on forum. Small price to pay!

That is typical scheme for free web hosting. But posting on the forums requires a lot of your time..

@serverpoint
I've been their dedicated user for a year. The smallest plan is comparable to other hosting packages (well, small hosting packages) and only requires 3 forum posts in a month. Takes about 30 secs of your time. 99.9% uptime for me.

Some hosting companies practise free hosting, but they have another purpose - to attract you to paid services. They make you feel uncomfortable and can even kick you out without explanation.. I'd rather pay money and be confident!

I think different web hosting providers can use different methods to earn on their free web hosting.

Yes, different methods, but still it stays free, and if you want to earn money on the site, you won't use free hosting.

Not free at all. You pay for the web hosting when post on the forums or place ads on your web sites

Yes, that's fair..
I want to say that there's a difference between paid hosting and relativeletly free hosting. Mainly in script support, client support and extra bonuses.
