Manlius or FCT Enterprises is the worst hosting I had ever been with. My site goes down once every hour for a few mins. I contact them with their ticket system, which they did reply back in a decent time, but they assured me there was nothing wrong with their database, or their servers. But so many had complained that they was not able to connect to my site.

So i contact them again, they said i was not allowed to have more then 50 people logged in to my site at once. I was like WTF?? I told them, do you know how many forums out there that has over 200 people connected at once? He then replied and said that they host many popular forums and no one had a problem. He then clams that my site was poorly coded and I was hogging up all the resource. Now im really like WTF??? My script is phpbb software!!

Few hours later, he deleted my account and said I had violated this TOS. I did not know what to think.. . So I asked him to let me get a backup of my database. It took him 3 days to reply back and after that he said, I'll do it when I have time. Ok, I could respect that, when he finally sent me the link to my backup.. . he sent me someone elses website instead!! I replyed back and for days he did not answer my ticket. Then he finally said:

For every contact made via methods other than this will result in a $500 fine each time for harrassment and sending of unsolictied email which is known as spam you are already several fines in violation.
Yeah, right like replying to a ticket is spam. Of cource im going to keep replying back asking what I did wrong, but he just stop replying. This guy is such a punk!

Beware when you sign up for anyhting under Manlius or FCT Enterprises

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. It is too bad to see hosts like this, acting in such an unprofessional manner. I hope you find a good host who knows how to treat customers right.

I been with many hostings that give me problems, but this one is just crazy! I think he on drugs or something.

You know why he said I violated their TOS? Because they knew I was about to cancel my service and ask for the "30 days moeny back guarantee". They know their service was bad. So before I was able to do so, they clam I violated their TOS.

This really ticked me off. I never posted anything about any hosting before, but this one is unbelievable.

Anyway, enough of me flamming away. Thanks for hearing me out amish_geek

Hi same happened to me, I was a former customer of them and they kept saying it was my side and their server wa all good.

Then I decided to take out my own dedicated, if you want i'll fix you up with 1 months free hosting until you can get yourself going again. i'm a windows host, with php, cfm, asp.net, ms sql, mysql. all the linux apps i had on their servers work fine... like modernbill etc.

Anyone who says their legal department belongs to a PO box shouldn't be treated as a serious company!

What they did was outrageous! When signing up for a web hosting service always check they have adequate support in place. A toll free number, a ticket support system, live chat support that's attended to regularly are all good signs to look out for. Also, if they have testimonials on their site contact the site owners and ask how good they are, how long they've hosted with them etc.

Also, ask how long they've been in business, whether or not they are a reseller for another company and whether or not they maintain/service their own servers. These can also help you to pre-qualify a good host.

Good luck in searching for a new host!

ANABOLICA, Thank you for your offer, but I already signed up with blue host. They are a decent hosting. I had not been with them for less then a week tho, but so far the speed is ok, price and plan is good. Thanks again.

Chrisf, yes you are right, but there not much I can really do about it.
These are good tips, ill be sure to follow by it in the future. Thank you.

Blue host is pretty good. I know some people hosting with them and they havn't complained.

I have the similar story: I tried to make a mirror site of my existing site that I've managed for more than a few years. In their rental hosting plan, one day, first time they warned me the high load of CPU in my script which checks a schedule and sends an e-mail every 2 minutes in my scheduler site. Maybe I had a mistake in my script, however, the same script has run in the other party's server who has never claimed to me. They suddenly suspended my site and they ask me $70 charge in order to recover the site. I paid that because I had to backup my database even though I would change the hosting party from them to the other.

Several months after, they suspended my site again for more than three days. I asked a staff in a trouble ticket system why I was wrong. After several messages exchange, Eventually they misunderstood me instead of a someone's security attack to their server. But they warned me again that my script got high load of CPU. Of course I fixed my script. And then, they suddenly suspended my site. I didn't mean to abuse their server, however, they aske me $70 again to release the suspending.

That's why, I am sending them the cancellation request now and I googled FCT, I found this forum.

I've also got an account with Manlius.
An "Advance" package which guarantees 99.99% uptime.
In reality it goes down daily for about 1 hour minimum!
Usually over two!
It's down as I write this.
I googled manlius servers being down and found this and many other articles!
They are cheap, now you know why.
I have contacted them before and they reply asap but they just blame problems and nothing changes!

Not for the serious webmaster!

Unfortunately if you never got your data in the last few days it doesn't look to good

That sounds really bad.. you should always have a up2date backup of your website in your computer. I wish you luck in recovering your website.
