Hi Guys,

May be some of you will disagree with me because godaddy is very famous and they have wide customer base. But I'd like to share with you my experience with godaddy and will leave you to decide your self.

I was using godaddy for about one year without any problem. Their normal support didn't have live help but was satisfactory.
They had slow mysql connection on shared hosting so moved to vps no problem. I never thought that much more problem are to come later.

That is till yesterday. when due to a spammer misused my free image hosting service to upload images used in spam operation. Once my website blocked by spamhaus, go daddy didn't wait a bit and didn't even give me any time to try to sort things out. they suspended my domain and hosting account without any notice and left me without nothing to do risking me losing of my one year business which never had the chance to make money yet.

At that stage their support became extremely horrible. Most of their replies by emails are sterio-type emails.
I called them several times a day but most of the time I get a recorded voice not a human. And even the one time I could reach them they didn't seem to be co-operative at all. They stopped my whole website and even prevented me from moving to another provider. They ask for $75 just to allow me to move to another provider and lose the months I paid in advance in hosting. They don't care that I never make money yet from my website. They never care I didn't abuse their service and I was just a victim like them.

My website completely got down and they seem they never care or bother. I have been a user of godaddy for more than one year and didn't ever cause any troubles or get convicted in any suspicious or illegal activity. And I'm also somewhat old in this forum. never posted spam or disobeyed rules.
I discovered they don't care losing innocent customers just because an abuse caused by another person I don't know and the abuse itself didn't last for more than 2 days before getting blocked and suspended. which is done too fast to be able to take any measures. How cruel is that!!!

I really hope I could know that before I see their ugly face this way.

Maybe now you will be a bit more professional in how you run your websites and not allow them to be used in spamming operations, also, why would any host care if you made money or not, it isn't their problem, they are there to host not run your business for you.

Well. I expect any good service to allow me at least one day to fix things but they suspended every thing without notice. And their abuse support very bad like I said they don't reply emails instead sterio type emails. I got the same emails every time I send to them again. they are not cooperative to help me get the problem fixed.
This was very different when I was not yet a customer and asked them about their service. they were very friendly and reply so fast. isn't that strange?

I'm not saying I'm not mistaken but it doesn't mean to get me out of business and charge me $70 which is too expensive for me. even paying it doesn't guarantee me to get my domain and website back.

Also it is the first problem for over one year. which should indicate that this abuse is exceptional.
All I need is a chance to sort things out. but they don't even care. did you get my point?

Personally I wouldn't use any of the big hosts for hosting, any complaints and they close you down regardless, your better off finding someone who is just starting out on hosting or get your own dedicated server, at least then you have some control over your domains.

I already have vps which I believe similar to dedicated hosting (except in performance)
Anyway the problem now is not with website. it is with the domain because I have no access to it. they took it from my account and I can't even transfer it to another provider. I get no reply to my emails. I get answer machine reply if called and so on.

Probably the best bet is starting a few threads on other forums, title it "godaddy stole my domains".

Dunno, your choice, it's a risk you take, but at present none of the big providers give any recourse at all as you have seen, they just take the site down regardless of facts, anybody can send them a dcma notice regardless of how true it is and get small packaged sites taken down.

If you can't spend $70 to start a recovery;

YOU do NOT have a business. You have the equivalent of a "paper round" or running errands for the neighbours to get extra pocket money.

Do you know how much the value of $70 in my country? it is the salary for one month for a company employee

That doesn't matter.
If you are running a business where the payments are or could be greater than the cost of living in the country you reside in, you would be more than happy about turning a profit of $70 dollars.

BUT you have to be able to finance the cost of starting such a business AND be able to absorb losses and expenses due to your failures or lack of planning.

I understand. But my resources are limited. For now I can hardly pay monthly fees. I don't have another budget for paying $70 which is more than two times the monthly fees for running the website.

Well there's a few thing id do when calling them.

1 - Call support ( if you cant get hold of a real person call their sales line )
2 - Take there names when you talk to them
3 - Ask for a manager. Or a manager or a manager.
4 - File a complaint with the complaints dept.
5 - Make sure you have notes of who you talked to and what they said.

Then the plain fact of it is; you don't have a business. If you don't not have a "cash flow" you have no business

Mark it up to experience, learn from it and move on. I have several business venture failures in my chequered history.
Failing is part of business life there is no need to be frightened of it. If you never fail, you never know where you can go wrong.

As they say, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"!

Hello,

Many times such issue are unknow to customers and they should be give a second change to get things corrected or secured.

The normal process that we follow in this case is ..we suspend the site and email the customer with notice email...so that our customers can get back to us to sort the issue on immediate effects.

I hear that.

I cant count how many failed ideas / businesses ive started just to fail.

Its taken some time to find something that works & wasted a lot of cash i didnt have.

But you have to do it , otherwise you will never know.

It is not making yet money but this doesn't mean to throw it away . I checked and found tinypic.com listed also in spamhaus probably because of similar situation.
http://www.spamhaus.org/sbl/sbl.lasso?query=SBL88421

Host service should have some tolerance to avoid causing harm to innocent business.
Although tinypic had the same problem I'm sure they can't get suspended. because they will soon sue the provider and will cause them so much trouble.

The experience I really need to have is not to know how to catch spammers but to know how to avoid hosting providers like godaddy.
