How?

I have an image uploading site which is mainly being used for Chinese/Japanese porn. It'd be much easier to just block these regions from accessing my site.

How can I go about this? I have denied them hotlinking privledges and blocked several IPs, however it seems that (for some reason) after I did this, the traffic has more than tripled and i've already used 12% of my alloted bandwidth the last two days... This is not normal and I believe they're upset at me for removing images and attempting to block them.

Anyhow, traffic today is already more than yesterday and there is still 14 hours before the log thinks its a new day...

"they" are bots and they will just keep on battering away at the site.

They should be blocked at the firewall before they get to the site.

It could be be done through htaccess file or you may ask your web host to block them on the server side

I have heard that we can take some measures to block them, but I have never tried these measures. Perhaps you need to contact your hosting provider to block these IPs.

Sometimes even if you block them by ip address if they are determined they just use a different ip or a proxy. Kind of a pain when someone or a group is persistent.

I agree. This is going to be much more affective than trying to block countries as most of them are probably accessing your site by a proxy.

I recommend using a captcha and blocking countries for the best result.

Ask your web hosting company to block certain IPs. But for this you will need to know which IPs should be blocked.

As far as I know such lists of IPs should be bought. I do not know any other way how to get it.

Nice to hear you have managed to solve the problem. Now all unwanted Ips are being blocked, aren't they?

why exactly do you want to do that. I hate it when some website block me from entering it . or some youtube video not playing because I'm not in a certain region.

Because i'm sick of cleaning up after the malicious use of one of my sites. Its all coming from certain 'questionable' countries. Since it appears that the vast majority of my traffic from those areas are non-english speaking and malicious, I figured i'd just block them all. They're only using my resources for wrong doings, since my ads are in English and they don't speak English I am not benefiting from them clicking on them or anything of the sort. I don't gain anything from being 'open' to these regions, other than the headache I used to get when cleaning up their mess.

EDIT: Also, the problem has been solved anyhow.
