I have 2 questions.

1) When you pay for hosting, that doesn't include a domain name does it? I want to have a domain name like www.myownname.com So that costs yearly right? Where would I go to set that up?

2) I was looking at Bihira for hosting my site, but a friend of mine thinks it's a total scam. It says that for the bronze package, you pay $2.50/month for 50,000 megs of bandwidth/month and 1,250 megs of space. My friend says there's no way some guy has that much bandwidth and is charging only $2.50 a month for it. What do you guys think? Here is the site: http://www.bihira.com/products.php

If this is a scam, does anyone know of any other cheap hosting sites that provide things like php and mySQL as well as a good amount of bandwidth/space?

1) Normally not. Some web hosts offer a free domain with a hosting package but I advise that you stay away from these offers. You can purchase domains here - http://www.godaddy.com. Yes, you pay yearly for domains

2) Yup. They are overselling big time. You would not get the services and support that you would expect. Stay away!

They are overselling pretty bad. Stay away from them. Use a hosting directory as cjvj stated and pick out a few hosts that catch your eye, and then feel free to come back here and we'll let you know what we think of them. There are many dishonest web hosts out there and you need to know what to look out for. We'll be happy to help you with that.

As far as domain names go, you should purchase your domain seperatly from your hosting. Use goDaddy.com or registerfly.com.

Hi, I represent Bihira, and was just searching on Bihira through refererrs I recieved and came upon this. I would like to defend my business if I may.

First I'm not overselling, if you do a reverse IP on my webhosting server you can actually see most of my clients. I'm also on an unmetered server (I know that doesn't mean unlimited), but it has a lot less restrictions.

Now what could I be overselling, storage. I'm not overselling that either. I don't have a monthly fee either if I wanted to add another 200GB harddrive to the server.

Support, well let's see I talk to my customers on a personal basis, and they know me the owner instead of just another ticket number. I give the my AIM name, they have the a support desk (via Clientexec), or they can post on the forums.

Though I do understand why you would say that, there are a lot of companies that do scam and that do oversell. I also know that your mind is already probably made up on my hosting, so if you don't bilieve my words I'm sorry to hear that, as I do honor my plans.

Thank you for your time.

Just a little note.

Offering loads of space, bandwidth, features and a free domain for hardly any money will Put off some people. They will see your prices and think 'how can they support this' and they will come to the conclusion that you will go bust in a few months or that you provide bad service.

I'm not saying that your service is bad, I'm just pointing this out.

Well right now i'm considering going to doorhost.com but the only problem I could see down the road is the small offer of 100 megs they provide. I talked to mysterie (i'm eternalllblaze) and he said he will give me a free month of Bihira service to see that it's not really a scam....this is all after I get my domain name of course. I'll probably get it right before the holidays. I might just do that and see how it goes.

Hi, I would like to defend bihira here. I've been getting the bronze package through Bihira, and it has been awesome. Downtime is low, price is great, and the support is unbeatable. Whenever I have a question, I can contact Mysteerie via AIM, MSN, the boards on bihira, email, or by opening a support ticket, and he helps me out with any problem I might be having. He does this for everyone there.

I can give you a list of other people who will go on and on about how much they love being hosted at Bihira, if you wish.

I really like Jiffynet.net and have been using them for a few years now. They offer very cheap plans with loads of bandwidth, space, etc. You can take my word on it that Jiffynet is one of those hosts that are in it for the long haul.
