There are plenty of web hosts over there. But none of them can be good and cheap at the same time. You get what you pay for.

Are you looking for a shared hosting plan that will allow you to add on 2 other domains or a small reseller plan?

Hello,
The best hosting will depend on your requirements. Do you have any specific requirements that will allow us to suggest a good mix of companies?

Byethost have given me a fast and reliable free service, so I can recommend them as trustworthy and professional.
Byethost's paid4 service starts from $2.99 / month, which I believe will host over 3 websites.
I suggest that you try their free service (if one of your sites will fit into the small webspace given for free), and hope that you find them as good as I have.

Just as a rule of thumb, its typically best to steer clear of 'Unlimited' hosting offers. There is no such thing as 'unlimited' hosting, and if there was, you sure as hell wouldn't find it for a few dollars a month. Quality usually comes at a price, and if you're hosting IMPORTANT sites (are you making money from them, are they your business presence, etc) then its worth the quality. You don't want to lose visitors/customers due to downtime, slow page loads, etc.
I'm sure you'll find a good host, just be weary of "fly-by-night hosts" and those offering 'too good to be true' type marketing schemes.
Test several hosts out, take advantage of their money back guarantee policy so you can sample and compare 3-5 hosts before making your ultimate decision, after this sampling you'll be able to notice the difference in quality.
Good luck!

Quite so. But aren't your plans rather the opposite, as in too limited? Tiny web space, and disk storage is hardly expensive, is it?

The average website uses less than 200mb of space. It'd be uncommon for a typical site to require gigs and gigs of space. Our largest plan right now is 5gbs of space w/ 50gb of transfer. This offers enough resources to host a good percentage of webmaster's needs.
We're launching our 'Semi-Dedicated' hosting plans this Fall or Winter where we put about 30-40 clients on each server, with each plan ranging from 10-50gb of space. This is different than typical shared hosting environments where there would usually be hundreds, up to thousands of customers on the same server. This will be for large resource hungry websites seeking superior hosting quality.
So, maybe limited when compared to the promise of 'unlimited everything', but our plans are realistic

Yes. Some of my sites take trivial space. But I'm thinking of a website directory and/or an article directory. I assume they will eat up space.

True. One thing you may encounter with hosting a directory or anything with many, many files would be inode count. Most 'unlimited' hosting has strict inode limits, some are 50,000. Every single file on your account (every email, log file, html page, graphic, everything) = 1 inode. A large directory website could easily surpass that limit. (Or an image uploading site, wordpress blog, or large community based sites).

I forgot to touch base on that point, but since we don't oversell we have less clients per server. This means less overall profit per server if we try to compete on web hosting prices. We're very affordable with the promotions we run and we try to offer a superior hosting environment by keeping our server loads low, maintaining a good personal relationship with clients, and going above and beyond. I always say, "you get what you pay for". You can't expect everything for nothing. With the many hosts i've used, I have yet to encounter one that would install e-commerce scripts not featured in Fantastico for their clients, do basic SEO work, help set up google apps, etc.

But customers do not want to see those limits at all. All that they want is get cheap unlimited hosting. Then in a few months they start understanding that they are using LIMITED web hosting.

I am starting to feel "blinded with science."
The only way around it might be to find sites similar to your planned one that work well, and see who their hosts are.

It took a while to load. Is that normal with Bluehost?
Incidentally - is your site intended for human visitors, or just search engines?

If that average customer would take the extra 5 minutes to read through the TOS of any unlimited host, it will be quite clear what limits are set into place. Whether they understand what it would take to reach those limits or not, thats a different story..
All 'unlimited hosting' is a marketing scheme. It appeals to the unknowing/uneducated web host customer. "Oh wow! For $3 I can get unlimited this, this and this!? Hot **** thats a great deal!" But with the overloaded servers, the hidden limits buried in the TOS, and (typically) lower quality of service they'll eventually find out.
There is a study somewhere too that shows those who choose unlimited hosting are more likely to 'host hop' and move host to host in search for something better as opposed to traditional hosts.

Your average customer might spend 5 minutes to read it, but your average customer would not understand it properly.

The average customer does not take 5 minutes to read the TOS though - in fact, very few customers do. It would be great for their sake if they did though

We even though about adding timer to such pages. But I do not believe that will be guarantee that TOS is read.
