I need help migrating a website. I am currently in the process of migrating a web site written in asp & mysql. I have been able to copy the file from the current ISP to the new ISP to a file structure of planetreunited/planetreunited.com/www. The files & DB were transfered to the planetreunited.com subdirectory and i have set a default document from the control panel on the new ISP site but i can't still view the pages online. Instead i have an error message. How can i rectify this problem.

The site currently resides on http://www.planetreunited.com but needs to be migrated to SSL http://www5.korksoft.com/planetreunited_com

If i have a directory structure of home directory/domain name/www and i need to upload my asp files & DB, which directory should the asp files & DB reside in? Should the DB and the asp files resides on the same directory?

First off, I only saw the underconstruction information but,

The error you describe could/ probably be that in the setting of your current php files it is referring to your old domain.

Recommendations, when doing the testing change all information to your current IP.

Note: THIS SHOULD ONLY BE TEMP. When you get everthing switched over make sure you switch the information back to just using root directory references.

If your getting the 500 error and your using IE do this:
goto Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced
and make sure "show friendly http error messages" is unchecked. Refresh the page and you should see the real error.

Your Unix directory will probably be different

Something like

/home/planet/public_html

and your new one is probably different
I am sure one of your files relates to this so it knows what root actually is. In this situation you have find which file refers to this.

To do this open your index.php file and search for some that looks like this, if it isn't there which it shouldn't be, there will be some code that says

include xxxxx

whatever the file it is to include look at those too.

Good Luck!

Thank you all for your help and support. i am currently taking an online tutorial and getting used to online control panel. Hopefully, this will give me more insight and point me to the right direction.

Is there any slight modification to be made from one provider to another provider after the site has been uploaded?

i will be posting more questions.
