I have 2 blogs 1 is a free blogger blog and the other is a self hosted wordpress blog they have the same domain name apart from the free blog has .blogspot.com instead of .com.

What I want to do is get rid of my self hosted blog and move the blogspot blog onto self hosting taking the domain name of the removed blog, thus becoming .com. My reason is the free blog is ranking better and has a nice rank with Google. The paid one is doing nothing at all.

But if I do this will my pr be lost and my rankings suffer, might google see it as a new site or think something underhand has occurred.

What do you mean by self hosting, you are going to host it on your own computer? Or do you mean you are going to purchase webhosting from a provider and host it there?

Not sure but I think that is a kind of paid web hosting can be.

If you are going to use new domain name I believe you will need to start your SEO from very beginning.

I believe that it will be a good idea to contact paid hosting provider, see how fast its support will respond and what they will offer your exactly.

Self hosting isn't worth it in your case. It may also be a breach of contract with your ISP too. You need to check all of this out before you waste your money on some hardcore equipment.

Now way to make it happen. Unless you can let blogger redirect your free blog to your .com website. And that, is impossible.

But what you can do is let your free blog promote your wordpress blog. Since your free blog got higher PR, it will be helpful to your wordpress blog.

What are you specific requirements (disk space, bandwidth)?

I think that it will be much easier to recommend you the host according to your specific needs and budget.

well, when u change it from blogspot to .com or .com to blogspot. for sure, u will say good bye to your PR and u will have to do your SEO all over again. my advice is, there's no point changing to .com unless your traffic is low, hence, yoiu can risk the PR.

Thanks for all the replies guys, think I'm just going to leave it as free host on blogspot.com there doesn't seem much point in disrupting it since its ranking well at the minute.
