I was altering my site when the thought dawned on me that i'll eventually have to move from shared to vps...so just to be ready..does anyone have any good reviews, experiences, or suggestions for vps hosting?

I've been pretty satisfied with Liquidweb thus far. Basically, it runs itself being managed and monitored.

At the time of purchase I had considered Servint, Knownhost and Wiredtree as well.

I think hostgator provide good vps hosting services.rankings and reviews of ultra hosting are also good.you can check for more reliable vps hosting service providers and hope you will find some suitable service.

What sort of budget do you have? Any specific requirements? Perhaps we can recommend a few different providers to you

I was in your position months ago and you really gotta pick the right host because you want to put your money down for some reliability. I personally recommend not cheaping out and going with some unknown host.

A 30 day money back trial is a MUST so you can try them out. It is so important in my opinion. I tried several hosts with 30 day money back deals and chose my current one after the other ones suffered from slow speeds.

Read a couple reviews and you'll get a great idea of who you should try.

I believe you need to reorginize your request: If needed have a piece of paper and write down your current stats then try to think over the VPS configuration which you need.

Yeah that's how it was with my shared service..I was flabbergasted by the amount of bad reviews for different websites...but I knew wayyy less back then plus i wasnt apart of several forums like i am now so i thought i'd ask...I heard the money back trial was a risky situation some people told me they didn't even get honored..Who are you with now if you dont mind me asking?

i'm thinking 20-30 dollars a month...any server linux windows mac..i'm probably not even close to needing one but just want to be ready..and btw i have seen packages this cheap so i do know they exist but i was just asking for recommendations if you have something better but less thrifty im all ears

Men, just do not hesitate visiting webhosting offers forums on this forum. I think you have good budget for low end VPS which would be enough to satisfy all your current needs.

No offense but most of those web-hosting themed sites are loaded with affiliates and are just paid off to subtly promote other company...now I AM NOT SAYING THATS THE OPERATION YOU"RE RUNNING...seriously i hate gettin into arguments on this forum..but since you bothered to post i thought i'd at least tell you why i wont likely go to your site..

That's a budget fitting unmanaged VPS. I recall reading good stuff about Linode and Slicehost, but you should do your own research on them. I don't know how they're faring these days.

Therese days they are not only VPS providers which can do unmanaged VPS. Better run reserch for 5-6 companies. 2 of them is not enough.

Why? Do they have a system in place to avoid people posting fake reviews, such as a host giving itself praise, or a competitor trashing another host?

Sadly no there is no system unless you count IP tracking to be one. I know of some review sites who make reviewers provide proof that they have used the host though.

There is a forum who allowed users to post reviews of hosts but you had to provide proof of usership. I had to send in a copy of a bill from my host, my URL, proof of ownership of domain, and etc.

Too much work on my end just to write a review if you ask me.

Fair enough, but without that, anyone could say anything about any company. Tough balance.

I think if anyone wants to say thanks to the web hosting company in the such way (writing review) that is very very nice idea here.
