Hi All,

I am not sure about this one, but could someone please tell me if a webhosting company could provide this for a particular domain:

ww1.domain.com
ww2.domin.com
ww3.domain.com

These would all be 'backup' type server in case one (the main one) went down, I guess another 'open' server would automatically connect...Reason I am asking is I seen a few sites that had something like this, one particular one was http://www.christmasdepot.com. (Left side of page, about a quarter of the way down the page). Just curious if a webhost would provide that, and if so would it be of reasonable cost? Or would I need to run my own server(s) to do such a thing?

Thank you!
-Brian

Hi, these are simply sub domains created from your top level domain.
You can point these anywhere. Most hosting companies offer subdomains.

Hope this helps.

Andrew is correct, they are simply sub-domains, They can point to a particular directory on your server or to a whole different server. If you current host supports sub-domains, you can do this.
