Hi, I'm running a small site on a university server, and the account will expire at some point. Is there a hosting solution out there that provides the following, but little/nothing else?

-LINUX/Apache
-PHP
-MySQL/PostgreSQL, only one database needed.
-Shell access via SSH

The last one is the one that pushes the price up, and usually an account with shell access is a hulking big option for corporate users. I can't seem to find one that gives shell access without including 100s of databases, email forwarding and other cruft I don't need.

Any ideas?

Yes, Shell access is the killer. Do you mind if I ask what you need it for? Most things can be done via web/ftp, and usually your host will do anything for you that requires shell.

I suppose I've just gotten used to it. Editing files in place is so much easier than maintaining offline copies and uploading whenever you want to make changes. Then there's things like access permissions and use of the mysql monitor.

I could quite happily survive without shell access, but if there's a reasonably cheap option for it then it would be preferable to an option without it. As I sais, you can't seem to get sheel access without a whole load of other things.

What do you need and what is your budget? I can proabably set you up with something.

Well, although http://www.jiffynet.net/ offers the whole load of other crap you don't want, they also offer shell access and all of it for only 5 bucks a month. I have been using them for over 2 years now and love them to death.
