There are plenty of excellent Canadian hosts. I think that TheWHIR has a page with Canadian showcases. You can also check a directory called beswebthosting.ca.

I know the host I use is based in Canada. You should probably Google some more hosts and read some reviews and judge for yourself.

Also, are you looking into VPS? etc etc?

There are lots of hosting companies taht are based in Canada and have good rankings, try to find them in hosting directories.

What I can suggest is to stay away from Netfirms and Hostpapa. Slow servers and poor uptime are their respective illnesses.

I do not believe that there you can find a lot of web hosting companies.

pageupseo have you seen the prices they are charging for hosting? It is so ridiculously high I wouldn't even consider them!

And $14 for a dot com DOMAIN!??! Are they crazy? I pay about $6 with my current host am I will never be paying $14!

They might be in CAD and that's why they appear for you as extra high ones.

Does it matter? That is still $13-$14 depending on how the currency is at the moment. That is ridiculously high for a domain considering I pay half the price with my host. The lower price has a huge advantage especially when you buy multiple domains.
