So I get this when I try to change my nameservers..

"Thank you for contacting Online Support. Please note that changes to the settings of a domain take an average of 48 hours to become effective because of the number of networks involved, and because these networks are controlled by several different agencies. This delay applies to all domains with any Registrar. Please allow for this delay when planning web sites or configuring a domain to work with your services."

I am so confused. I work in web development and when I change nameservers for other people on their platforms like godaddy and all those other ones we always so upto 24 hours but most of the time it takes like 10-20 minutes.

I changed nameservers.
Also changed A record thinking it might be faster.

It has been over 24 hours now.... and whois is showing my updated nameservers..... why when I ping it is still showing my old A record?

Is this because I bought from a 3rd party that might be like a 3rd party of a 3rd party.... meaning crap?

It should've only taken a couple of hours by today's standards, not 24 hours even. I think you should try again and make sure you did the configurations right. If the problems persist the next obvious thing to do is go to your registrar AND host to get the situation resolved.

And it shouldn't matter about 3rd party bought domains. A domain is a domain.

Have you tried clearing the DNS cache on your local PC?

Run this from a command prompt:

ipconfig /flushdns

Usually, a lower TTL will help you in faster propagation. Are you on a VPS or a dedicated server? Then, contact your hosting support to lower the TTL.

That can take up 72 hour depending on your location.

Try to execute the command : ipconfig /flushdns if you are under Windows OS.
Try also : ipconfig /release
and ipconfig /renew

You can do a "ipconfig /registerdns" on your system to get the latest changes.

It shouldn't take that long, it depends on the provider. Some only check once a day for dns changes (seems like like late afternoon). So that's still quicker than 72 hours! Trying to explain this to my customers is nearly impossible, it has got much better over the years.

OP, do you have any updates? Has the issue resolved itself? I am pretty sure by now you should have the name servers updated. If not, then you truly have an issue you need to take up with both registrar and host.

It should not take so long to update. It is advisable to contact the registrar. You may also try out the "ipconfig/renew" command.
