Haven't used them and considering they don't have cPanel that sends up a red flag to me.

PS: What's with the extensive use of smilies and hearts lol

I'm surprised at the less than steller reviews about dreamhost, because when I was researching different shared hosting services, dreamhost came up as one that had very good reviews, and I was hard pressed to find any dirt on them.

I'm currently with hostmonster which is equally good.

I think the general consensus is that they aren't very good and if you've seen a lot of good reviews, as Chris pointed out, they may simply be 'plugging' their own good reviews to get more customers.

My suggestion would be to use a more reputable, cheap shared host like HostGator, Bluehost, HM, etc. You can get HostGator pretty cheap too, especially if you use the coupon code in my signature.

In my experience, they have been among the better budget hosting providers. They're also one of the more expensive ones at the 1 year prepayment level though.

I use dreamhost but I do everything via ftp I have noticed that when I upload or edit something from ftp it takes a little while for the changes to show up on the web idk if its a direct result from dreamhost or the ftp client I'm using but I have noticed that it does that some times

but when looking for hosting options I did find they were the cheapest for a one year plan plus the free domain so I thought it was a good deal..

Only if you find a good coupon, but that only works for the first billing period. After that, it's full price.

HostGator has the SINGLECENT deal, which is pretty good considering I'm pretty sure you can get a refund within... the first 3 months I think? So you could 'test-drive' their hosting for a while with little investment.

Try search google for reviews. DreamHost is a relatively large company, you will have no problem finding reviews on them!

It has quite a good reputation in web hosting services market.
Webhostingstuff.com is a good source to find reviews about them.

DreamHost's price is a little high for me, However, their service is excellent. If you don't have enough budge, you can choose some cheaper hosting, such as, godaddy.

They are good for domain registration..

Think that it will be reasonable to choose web hosting provider instead of using hosting services offered by domain Registrar.

It is almost 2011, I am in no way going to pay any host for hosting if cPanel isn't included. Simple as that.

It should be a given by now but cPanel is a crucial part in any hosting experience. Not offering it for paid hosting even is not acceptable.

Why??

Plesk is equally as capable as WHM/cPanel is OpenPanel is a pretty good tool and handles all the basic functions needed with a very user friendly interface.
