I've had this problem before. Some hosting providers give you phpBB preinstalled, but then you don't have access to the files where the script is installed. I asked about this at phpBB.com, and they told me to dump that installation, dl phpBB myself, and install it myself. Then you will have access to all the directories. This is the way you can edit the files that make the mod work. Also, there is a tutorial that shows you how to make the attachment mod easymod compliant so that it is a breeze to install. I've not yet done it, but it's on my to do list.

If you used FANTASTICO to install phpbb it would install it in your account just the same as a normal upload of phpbb (you can edit the files etc)

Hi, we offer Cpanel control which includes fantastico.
PHPBB can be installed with full access to all the files.

I've done some serious hacking of PHPBB in my time ( http://www.bonsaihelp.co.uk/forum/ )

If you want to change your host and ask me nicely I'll help you with the attachment mod.

Good luck!
