hello,

For the last two days i'm being DDOS'ed

I need some help choosing a new host, taking into consideration my previous configuration how things are setup and how they failed.

Server A - Back-End DB+WWW
Server B - Front-End to a Rev. Pxy

Server A, No attacks, safe.

Server B, Cisco 5505 HW Firewall on a Dual Core server that is barely using 70MB/4GB RAM and it was able to handle upto 2500 members at a time. (Proper Members on vB Forum)

After this saturday's attack, I moved to cloudflare, didn't help either.
The server got hit bad, not accessible, they passed over cloudflare and went for Server IP Directly, I told the host to only allow cloudflare ranges so no one can access it directly, but those dumb Swedish nutjobs only wanted the money to setup the firewall, knew nothing.

First they told me Firewall will handle it all, I paid 185 euro for it. (Setup + Month)

Now they're telling me to get a better server, this can't handle it, but they won't acknowledge they don't know how to configure a firewall!

-----------

I need a new host now. I have been told having a 1Gbps port will be more helpful during an attack?

I still plan on making the setup a Reverse Proxy Setup, So even if the front end goes down I can have access to back-end.

Can someone recommend some Good DDoS Protected Host Provider ?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It could, though it would mean the host would incur huge costs for the traffic. One way or another, you'll end up paying the price anyway.

Perhaps it may be a good idea to go for a proxy based DDOS protection, rather than changing the hosting provider outright. Contact companies like blacklotus.net or gigenet.com, and see what the price would be for protection against attacks of the magnitude you're seeing.

Thanks ldcdc.

One more thing. IF there's a KVM on a Server and the server is down (dosed)

Will the KVM go down too?

Not unless the server is completely powered down or the network is completely clogged

If you need to have your servers really be protected - you need to find the solution for whole server. There are plenty of different ones over there and you need to decide which budget you ready to spend and if that worth it.

I wonder what else companies provides quality DDoS protection hosting except koddos?
And what are their conditions?
Has anybody got a personal experience with such companies?
How effective are they in protection their clients against DDoS attacks?

Sorry to hear of the attack. My suggestion is the host I use. I've had plenty of threats and none have been successful mainly because of the DDoS protection.
