A list of the top 10 best webhosting providers should always be viewed skeptically. Everyone has different opinions and different needs. As the old proverb goes, "One man's trash is another man's treasure."

Also beware of a lot of the web host directory sites. MAny of them rank hosts by how much they pay the site for advertising, not by how good they are. www.webhostingtalk.com is one of the few places to get impartial advice.

Things have changed somewhat over there in the last year or two. It's a good starting point, however.

Indeed they have - seemed to coincide with when RackShack's 'head surfer' took over the reins.

Rackshack is a great provider of unmanaged servers and HeadSurfer has aquired very many sites, and in my opinion he has a good business sense. Though as previously stated, chosing the top 10 webhosts is based on your needs, experiance and time of the experiance. Also with the amount of new hosts starting up and old ones selling out its hard to really keep it up to date. Looking on places like this for information on the hosts in question are are great idea.
