Hello,

I have a few shared hosting reseller accounts and recently contracted for another one (I'm just dabbling with hosting and I provide some friends with hosting for their domains). In the past, when I registered a domain name and set up the space on a server, the domain became active (viewable) within minutes. However with this new provider, it takes hours, even as long as a day, before the domain becomes active.

I use the same Registrar and when I check using a couple of whois programs, the information is all there and correct, including the nameservers, and, again, shows up within minutes.

So why does it take so very much longer with one than the others?

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on why this is and maybe give me some idea as to what takes place when a domain is registered or a change of nameservers is made.

Thanks in advance for any information that would help me understand this.

Have you changed ISP recently, they may have changed their DNS server update settings

Hello,

Good thought Duport. That's something that would not have immediately come to my mind. But the answer is no. Same ISP and same local hub.

However I remembered a site I ran accross a while back, www.dnsreport.com, and ran my master reseller account domain name through it, in hopes that it might shed some light on the problem. When I did, I found failures and warnings there http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsre...omain=d1b4.com which I brought to the attention of the provider. But the provider said there was nothing in that report to worry about. (He knows I'm not familiar with this stuff and can talk circles around me with "hostmaster-eze").

Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I can look at the report and tell me if these "failures" and "warnings" might have something to do with the long delay.

Really appreciate any and all input.
