Two things I would like to ask HostRocket users. I am considering signing up:

1. Does HostRocket give you full admin access to FrontPage extensions? I would need to be able to create individual subwebs and change access permissions for each of them.

2. Can anyone get any screenshots of the admin interface? I know they have a demo online, but it's never really the same as seeing a real one. I would like to see what my admin panel would REALLY look like and what options it would have in each section (rather than just a paragraph of text like is shown on the site).

Can you create individual user accounts (restricted FTP access, email, etc.) and restrict space and/or bandwidth use?

Finally, are there any better values out there other than HostRocket?

Another question...

I see they offer site without dedicated IP addresses. How does this work? If the IP address is dynamic, wouldn't the site go down when the domain no longer points to the correct address? This would be the problem people would have with hosting sites with a home broadband connection.

I can answer the dedicated IP.

What it means is that the IP itself IS dedicated, but it is shared between a lot of sites.

Nothing to worry about regarding that ...

A few answers:

1. I'm not sure on this. I don't use FrontPage personally, but I would doubt you would get this level of control. The best idea would be to send in a trouble ticket and ask them.

2. There's a main screen screenshot at:
http://www.gowansnet.com/ex/hrss.jpg
but if you want to see any other areas, just let me know.

3. Not as such, but you can do this to a limited extent. If you create a subdomain with the same name as a folder in your account, or an FTP account with the same name (or both) these will all be linked together. The FTP account will not have access to anything above this folder. E-mail goes into the correspoding address for the main domain. Unfortunately there are no limiting systems, but this feature is really a reseller account feature, not one for shared hosting (also it is officially against the TOS to host multiple websites on one account, but can be done to an extent).

AhmedF pretty much answered the IP question, but I'll just add that it really makes no difference on Hostrocket which you have, except with a dedicated IP you can upload files with FrontPage before your domain begins to resolve.

Personally, I feel that HostRocket offers great value for that package. It might not be the best FrontPage package you could get (Windows based hosting would be better for that), but the level of support is excellent and it truly is an impressive host.

Well, I definitely need the ability to administer my FrontPage extensions. With my current host (CommuniTech.Net, 350 MB, 25 GB, $306/yr.) I can do that and more. I am uneasy going to a new host that is going to place more restrictions on me. Same with the multiple websites thing.
